So I'm applying again at

good_fanicons. I think I'm a glutton for punishment. They've rejected me three times before! *facepalm* But while putting together my app, I looked at my last app and I really really think I've improved - I still like those icons, but objectively I don't think I would have accepted me either. Now I do a lot more experimenting with colors and composition and stuff. So. I have a chance, I think, maybe? I just think getting into there would get me a wider audience and more exposure. Anywho, here are the icons I applied with, more for my own personal reference than anything.

My personal favs out of this bunch are 02 (for the colouring and lovely crop) and 11 (again with the lovely cropping, colour, and perfect text).

I don't know if it's the crappy monitor I have at work (probably), but your BSG icons look a bit over-sharpened/over-contrasted... the others are awesome, tho... good luck! :-)

It scares me a little to know that people with shitty computers see our icons (I checked, and some of my icons looked v. bad too) like that... :|:|:|

*laughs* Actually, I fixed up number 2 and replaced it, so it's not ONLY your screen. I think the other ones looked fine, but that one just was overly harsh. Now it's all smooth and purty, yay.

It is a bit terrifying, aint it. lol ^_^

Although I did check out some of my icons and they did look like crap (mostly the "skin job I do to make them all smooth and pretty was totally fucked up)...I wanted to cry really bad. :(

I just hope that there aren't too many crappy monitors around...*sighs*

Ooh, look, my old Ewan icon! It's pretty incredible that I'm still pleased with that, hee.

Ah, well, by now I should speak English good enough to know the difference between despite and despise. Right after I sent the comment I went like "d'uh!". Anywhoo. ^^;;

I can absolutely understand why you would like to get approved, exposure is always good and I think it's a good place to get it. I just don't like the whole concept of judging others as 'not good enough'. (However, I do understand comms which have like a minimum standard of icon quality, meaning reject ones that look like they've been made in paint.)

I simply love the Ewan icon. Use it a lot, too. :) And I think it's great that you're still pleased with it. You have all the reason to be!

All that looking and talking about icons in the last time has really made me want to icon again. Don't really have the time for that atm though. I did make my first icon texture/bases set today, though, which was incredibly much fun. :D

I love iconmaking, but it's so time consuming! More often than not it keeps me up way past my bed time -_-

I love iconmaking, too, but every now and then I get phases where I just need a bigger canvas. So I'll find myself making banners, wallpapers, cards and silly manips *g*

As I said I got them by simply taking three stock images and playing around with different blend modes. Really, the sets I've made are addicting, I had to stop myself to not go overboard. The way I do them is also an interesting cropping exercise. It's almost got me thinking about a new variation challenge ;D But I guess the need for texture challenges is very small indeed. Did you like the sets (now that you've seen them completely)?

They are lovely sets! Really, I like them a lot, and I've seen lots of textures. You should make it your thing, maybe! You know, some people make lots of icon tools, and I think that would be really cool. But yeah, they're great hon :)

Yeah, I know there are resource makers out there. I never really considered it for myself, because you need some skills for that, too, but maybe if I get a little more into blendmodes and distorting pictures and enlargen my picture stock a little I might start doing that. Or at least play around with stuff a little. Anyways, I'm glad you like them. :D

I will forever believe 5 and 8 are genius beyond my ability to express. You're so in, I just betcha. :X :X :X
