Ummm, not really! I was flying by the seat of my pants, didn't play with many settings or anything. Related to that compression thing, if a clip gets compressed, it can get reexpanded by clicking on the end and dragging. And you can avoid that problem by highlighting a bunch of clips in a row that are finished and merging them :)
