Is it POSSIBLE to explode from squeeing?! I mean, REALLY. I just got my invitation to
good_fanicons!!! FINALLY! *falls over AGAIN* No need to congratulate me all over again, you all are so sweet and I don't mean to be all LOOK AT ME I AM MADE OF AWESOME but can I help if two incredible things happened to me in a row? LOL
And more details on the internship. Turns out it's not at the University of Michigan but Michigan State University. Which is still really awesome! The former is in Ann Arbor, where my Uncle Andy lives, but the latter is in Lansing, near where my cousin Meg lives! I LOVE Meg and her whole family, being so close to them will be AMAZING. Yay :D There aren't TOO many specifics on the website, but this is the website if anyone wants to take a peek for whatever reason: http://www.phmtox.msu.edu/surf/undergrad.php
And for anyone with a scientific bent, here's the page detailing the work of the professor that called me: http://www.phmtox.msu.edu/faculty/galligan.php In short, he studies neural control of gastrointestinal systems. Cool!
But I do know I'll get a $3000 stipend (yay), I'm not sure if I have to pay for housing or not but they do offer it on the campus, and there's a possibility of travel funds since I live so far away. It's 10-12 weeks with no defined starting date, so I'll have to wait to find that out until I can talk to the professor. His name is Jim Galligan and his lab focuses on "neural control of gastrointestinal motility and blood flow." Basically I'll learn a LOT about biochemistry and discover if it really is something I want to do with my life. Basically, it's everything I could have ever asked for!! *is completely boggled*
*floats off on cloud nine*
\o/! (Finally a chance to use THE most adorable emoticon ever. It's a person with their hands thrown up,if anyone doesnt get it (I didn't get it for the longest time!))

Also, YAY! Thanks so much!! It would be so amazing to stay with you guys for the summer, make it a much less scary proposition. Apparently there's going to be 7 other undergrads there, and what if i don't like them? Eep. It'll be great to have you guys there :) The only reason I was hesitant was that I wasn't sure how I'd get into the lab every morning (I'll probably have to be there pretty early - i don't know my schedule yet though) but I guess we'll talk about that?
I'm so excited Meg, yay! This couldn't have turned out any better
