Hi, this is Anne. I just wanted to tell everyone that my friend Sara is just a basially amazing person, and I like her better than every other person just like, ever. The end.
Just to be clear, Faith is used to being fucked over. She just has a different definition of “fucked over” than most people.
She’s a Slayer, with all the ups and downs and ambiguities and self-righteous perky blondes, and she knows that there are no constants, okay? Not the way most people mean, a Middle America home-and-hearth kind of constant, the kind with families and stupid petty problems and less chance of getting fucking stabbed –
And anyway there’s her kill-or-be-killed law-of-the-jungle constant, which she gets. She knows how that goes.
She should be used to this, to the way the world twists and upends itself under her feet. She only counts on herself – but she had a father for a little while and it was nice – and this isn’t like before, this isn’t sharp edges and stakes and a new life in a new state. When she wakes up all sterile-white in a hospital gown, like some kind of Sleeping-fucking-Beauty, she has no point of reference. This is not how it goes.
Faith is used to being fucked over.
This is the first time she’s ever been lost.
