I'm confused by the love SPN fandom has for Eric Kripke. I'm not sure how they didn't pick up on the fact that he doesn't write and/or come up with the stuff we all think is "ZOMG amazing!"
I mean, watch the Paley interview. He specifically says that his thing is the Monster of the Week, jump scares, and mini-horror movies. Watch the movie 'Boogeyman' >> His writing is sub par. The concepts for Sam and Dean were taken from the book "On the Road" (main characters: Sal and Dean), and they weren't even put into place until Kripke's original idea of a reporter was rejected.
It's the other writers and producers of SPN that do all the amazing character driven stuff that we love. I mean, I'm not saying I don't appreciate Kripke and what he does for the show! He's very attentive to fans and really looks into what we like/dislike, but he's the guy who likes all the lame moments like badly done jump scares and lots of focus on the Monster >>;;
And yet, every new episode, I hear "Kripke is a GOD".
