I called my friend Ryan and he's going to let me crash on his couch for a few days! He lives with another friend of mine, Shigeki, and Dave, who I've met because he's working for the same professor as me, so it's not like I'm living with some random strange guys. It might be awkward, but it'll only be 3 nights or so, and whatever, it should be fun. Ryan and I will probably watch Firefly :D I'm very relieved! Life, you are no longer on notice :)

I was just poking through your journal, and all I can say is this: Rodney and John yay! Sam and Dean yay! *twirls* I did the opposite as you though, was madly truly passionately in love with the Winchesters for a year before having a rather torrid affair with SGA on the side. Now I simply love them both deeply, at the same time! *happy sigh*

Yes, being a grown-up can suck at times, but then I remind myself that I had a big bowl of chocolate ice cream with coloured sprinkles for dinner, and I remember why being a grown-up can rock, too. Nutrition, pfffft. Sorry to hear your landlord is being difficult, but YAY for friends being heroes! Enjoy the holiday weekend!

*laughs* That is an excellent point. It has long been an ambition of mine to make a batch of cookie dough in my own kitchen and then put it in the refrigerator for snacking purposes. It is my opinion that baking RUINS various doughs and batters *g*

Yes, baking can ruin a perfect dough. I often make a half batch of cake mix without eggs purely for the aforementioned purpose of snacking. Those tube thingies of cookie dough from the grocery store will do in a pinch, and I have discovered my downfall: they now make brownie dough in a tube, perfect for on-the-go or on-the-couch snacking. Have spoon, will snack. Sadly this freedom to snack wantonly is hard-won, and requires me to now do things like pay rent, grrrrr, but it's worth it in the end. *g*

Totally the wrong post, BTW, but I read that you are off to Dublin for a year. Brilliant city. I used to live in England, and have been to Dublin and various other Irish ports of call on many occasions, and I can assure you that you will love it, even if no one has ever heard of SGA or SPN (blasphemy, that, but you will enjoy Ireland so much that you will soon recover). I hope you continue to post, with all the wacky cross-cultural discoveries! I'm sure you won't want to come back- I didn't ;)

I spent two days last week with my best friend sitting on a couch watching SGA and eating a tube of cookie dough. AMAZING. \o/

Yes! Dublin! I have heard only marvelous things. Is there anywhere else in Ireland you recommend that I see, specifically? I don't know how much time I'll have for tourism, but I do want to venture out somewhat! As for the fannish thing, there's actually a VERY large Sci-Fi club at Trinity, and their website says they have a huge DVD collection, the icon for which was the Battlestar DVD set. So I am fully confident that I will find fellow geeks with which to squeal in no time! *beams*

Aiieeeee! They have a sci-fi club at Trinity? No problem for you then ;) You won't want to come home (and you might not want to anyway).

You probably won't much need to leave Dublin to enjoy Ireland, but it would be akin to coming to the States and only seeing New York- fun, but not representative, ha! I enjoyed Kilkenny, which is a medieval Irish town that has been well-preserved and is fairly unique. I also really liked Belfast, I found the people there to be friendlier than those in Dublin, but YMMV- you'll have a built-in social network at the school. Much of Ireland is now geared towards the tourist industry, so little of it is unspoiled, but I found my best experiences in just going home with friends to the countryside. There is not much to do there but drink and have sex, which explains the size of Irish families *g* but it is fun, and you see how country people really live, like cutting turf to heat their homes. Regardless of what, you will have a great time, and probably don't need my suggestions for doing so ;)

Sorry this took so long to respond to. I have friended you BTW, what with all the kerfuffle going down on lj. Would hate to lose you now! Ok, back to eating raw dough on the sofa for me.
