Owwwww.

This is the most miserable, painful, and violent cough I have ever had in my life. And it's lasted a week. If anything, it's getting worse, and certainly not getting better. I frequently get wracked by bouts of coughing that leave me feeling like I'm gagging or choking or both, often doubled over, and by the end of the day I've always got a vicious headache. My abs are sore, as well as this random spot under my left arm.

Nothing has helped. Orange juice, cough drops filled with vitamin C, tea, honey. Two types of medicine - chest decongestant, and Sudafed Severe Cold. Nothing reduces the intensity of the coughing.

It's starting to scare me. I'm hopefully going to see a doctor tomorrow, or Wednesday. What's wrong with me? :(

I wouldn't be scared.

I'm on the second or third week of a vicious, gagging cough with headaches. Like you, I've tried orange juice and vitamins...nothing is helping.

I talked to people at work who have the same problem, too. I think its just a ridiculous allergy thing that is affecting EVERYONE, not just the allergy sensitive people. I only think this because it seems to be affecting a lot of people.

Whoa, that's so weird that it's so widespread. I don't know anyone else experiencing it. Hmm, I've never had allergies before *frowns* Has anyone you know seen a doctor? I don't want to waste the money if they're just gonna say they have no idea.

How have you survived weeks of this?? I'm already ready to kill myself, ugh.

The thing is, there's no inflammation or anything so I know there is very little probability that it is a bacterial infection, therefore antibiotics won't do anything. So that's why I haven't seen a doctor.

My feeling is this: If you are worried about it, go see a Doctor. Sometimes its worth the money if it eases your discomfort. Also, by worrying you might be making it worse. This is my "mind over matter" thing in play.

For me, I'm used to bad coughs and allergies. I kind of survive through random viral attacks frequently. I almost never get a bacterial infection, but viruses attack me because I'm always overworking and stressing myself. I guess I've just gotten used to it. Hehe.

Good luck! I hope you feel better.

Interestingly enough, I wrote this comment after just coughing myself, lol.

Maybe it's bronchitis? That was going around my work last month. I had a terrible cough for about a week and a half, but I was (and still am, haha) too poor to do anything but wait for it to go away.

I was wondering that, which is why I want to see the doctor. No one I know has anything like it, though. Ugh, I just don't know :(

(Ahahaha YOUR ICON <333 )

(it's one of my favorites :D)

I'd go to the doctor, just so you can get some antibiotics. Cause the sitting around and waiting for it go away on its own method is kinda frustrating.

Hope you feel better soon <33333

Ugh, that happened to me earlier this year, and it was awful. It just wouldn't go away! :(

Seeing a doctor is good, I hope you find something out. *hugs* Feel better soooon.

i am the queen of horrifying coughs (once this year it was so bad that my boss asked me if i wanted to go home without losing a sick day - ie she was going to pay me to leave and lie on my couch coughing and mainlining orange juice)

i had a really persistant recurring bad cough this year and the thing that finally kicked it out was Mucinex. You can get the expectorant/suppressant kind so that you cough less and when you do cough it's more productive.

also, when your cough gets like out of control drinking hot water really helps calm it down.

Yuck! I wouldn't be too scared, I frequently have lingering coughs, and I tend to ignore them until they go away. Of course, sometimes they go away faster with antibiotics. I think seeing doctor is probably a good idea.

I hope you feel better soon!

I'm so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. But you should def go see a doctor because it could be anything from an allergy to a really weird chest cold so it'd be better to have a specialist look at it (and yeah, this is the medical student in me blabbering :P)

Eugh, I feel your pain. I have the same kind of thing and so do loads of people at work. It's got to the stage where I'm trying not to cough because it hurts so damn much!

Here's hoping it's nothing too serious :/ *hugs* Hope you get better soon
