SN 2x14 Born Under a Bad Sign

*satisfied sigh*

Our show is so good, people. I mean, this went much differently than I expected (yes, the promos fooled me!) and I thought I was going to be a WEEPING MESS when this was over, but instead I was laughing because, oh DEAN! "You had a girl inside you for a week." Seriously. Oh, Dean. He knows exactly how to take his brother's mind off things.

First of all, two things that show what a huge dork I am about this show. Firstly, did anyone else notice that Bobby's lines in the previouslies were different takes than the ones actually in the episodes? His voice is different, the cadence and volume. And secondly, they reused the shot of the Impala driving towards Nazareth from Phantom Traveller! They just changed the town name on the sign. Oh budget show, NEVER CHANGE. *loves and loves*

And on to the actual episode. I really loved how the beginning was edited, with the jerky cuts illustrating Dean's panic. And Dean basically *groping* Sam as he looked at the blood, hee. He didn't remove his hands for quite a while!

The scene where Sam was trying to get Dean to shoot him was so intense. I just - God, DEAN. He has such complete and utter faith in Sam, and also in his ability to save Sam, simply because he has to. There is no alternative. "I'd rather die." And how his voice falls into a whisper on "I've tried so hard to keep you safe." It KILLS me how much Dean NEEDS Sam. He's compromising so much to keep him alive - other people's safety, his own morals, his promise to John... the lengths he will go to for Sam continually astound and amaze me. When it comes to Sam, there aren't any rules for Dean. Everything flies out the window except keep Sam alive. And that just... yeah. *flails with love*

But just one thing - FUCKING HUG HIM ALREADY!!!! *facepalm*

I loved how they brought in old characters. I think Jo's role was great - she was the victim, but she wasn't damselly. She's still crushing on Dean, but she's not deluding herself about it. She seemed much older in this episode, and I'm glad for that. I certainly don't mind her being an occasional returning character. And I love that she can pull a bullet out of a guy's shoulder and not flinch. Girlpower ftw!

And BOBBY! Oh how I love Bobby. "Don't try to con a conman." YES!! *pumps fist* He is MADE of awesomesauce. He can totally stay :D

I loved Dean pretending Sam was his SON, hee. And "Yes, Justin is quite a triple threat." HEEEEEE. I love a lot.

Does Dean keep hundreds of dollars on him solely for bribery? He shells that shit out like candy!

"Are you that scared of being alone, that you'd rather let Jo DIE?" In a word: yes. Like I said, compromising everything else. It does come down to that. Dean can't face life alone. *squeaks*

The only thing I'm going to say about the Sam-attacks-Jo scene is that Sam's hand is about eight times the size of Jo's. Jesus, he's a beast! A really hot, graceful, gorgeous beast, but SO FUCKING HUGE! *hands*

Nnnnnngh Sam with demon-eyes is RIDICULOUSLY HOT. And the skewed hair and Dean calling him a sonofabitch. Why yes my panties DID just explode, why do you ask? And the reason this "review" is getting more random is because I'm rewatching right now, haha. Sorry!

DEWY SENSITIVE EYES!!! *Dies and dies and dies* First the droopy music, now this! Oh SHOW. And the boys stalking each other in a cluttered warehouse is fucking hotass, yo. Mmmph.

"Shoulda known you wouldn't have the sack." *dies* What kind of line is THAT? hahaha. And basically, this is the ONLY thing Dean doesn't have "the sack" for. Killing Sammy is on his complete taboo list.

Okay I really can't rewatch the whole thing right now. I have things to do, so to conclude with a few more things. The demon said John is in hell again! Oh dear :( That's definitely coming back later, I can tell. And wow, the demon was MEG! I didn't see that coming, and that is just SO awesome. And now she's out and about, so she'll be back too, in one way or another! I liked the bit about the demon locking itself in Sam's body with that sigil, very cool new piece of mythology. But god, Sam beating Dean into a bloody pulp was so so hurty and so so hot. Dean punching him after the demon was gone made me facepalm, but it made sense, lol. It's the Winchester way of expressing affection! :P (But that's two times Dean has punched Sam now - when're you gonna cash that raincheck, Sammyboy?) But both of the boys flinging punches is really, ridiculously hot.

Oh god! I just fast forwarded some, and I missed this line of the demon's on the first time around: "They would have been better off without you." OW OW OW OW OW!!!! So wrong, but OWWWW! *whimpers* STUPID DEMONS MESSING WITH DEAN'S HEAD!! *stabs*

*flaps* "That'll stop it from getting back up in ya." "That sounds vaguely dirty, but thanks." And Sammy SMIRKS! Because he knows just what's gonna get up in Dean! *giggles*

The final scene in the car was lovely. Dean's genuine open concern for Sam, and trying to alleviate the tension at the same time. "Now if it's the last thing I do, I'm gonna save you." YES. Yes that exactly. *meeps into hands* And then of course the girl inside you line. OH DEAN.

In conclusion, I love our boys sooooooooooo much. *smishes them to chest*

Hey, I just realized that "Paranormal" is the category TiVo puts Supernatural under. I didn't even know that was a category. Very cool! I've always just lumped our show with "genre" stuff, you know, scifi/fantasy. But paranormal is an excellent category, and I think I will use it from now on! ^_^

Now I have to get to packing and getting ready for my weekend trip to Boston! I'm going with my Oxfam club (aka all my best friends, plus some other people, hee) to a Hunger and Homelessness Conference. It's gonna be a crazy weekend, with all the driving and the squishing a lot of people into a tiny apartment and the no sleep and etcetc, but it will be so much fun. I probably won't be posting again before I leave, so this is my farewell! I won't be catching up on my flist when I get back (it'll be like, skip 600) so if anything huge happens, drop me a note, maybe? Much love to you all! *hugs*

Commenting on your two first things before I forget: Yeah, I totally noticed them both. Even if it wasn't the same shot, it was the same stretch of road. Oh show, never change.

"Shoulda known you wouldn't have the sack." WTF? Are you really not allowed to say balls on network television? Gordon at least said stones, right?

Dude. Tonight was kickass and all sorts of awesome. I was okay with Jo tonight, surprisingly! I was a bit confused on how she didn't know that she couldn't figure out that Sam was possessed. I was just like, bzuh?

Your recaps always put it so nicely, I just say DEAR GOD and OH SHIT! a lot! ;)

GAH! Our show is just the BESTEST and I think it's really hitting all the right marks with characters, plot, and EVERYTHING!

Supernatural! Rocks!

Oxfam! Rocks!

I usually have more eloquent f/b, but my mind is still doing little happy dances around the moon.

This was like one of the less-Wincesty episodes for me, and STILL IT IS THERE.

"That sounds vaguely dirty, but thanks." And Sammy SMIRKS! Because he knows just what's gonna get up in Dean! *giggles*

Hee! Oh show. I love you so.

This episode was so amazing. Jared was so spot-on and creepy. And why do I get a feeling somebody's going to succeed in breaking Dean with the whole "you'll have to kill Sam" thing before the end of the season?

But just one thing - FUCKING HUG HIM ALREADY!!!! *facepalm*

I know!! That would have been a good time. *sigh*

[identity profile] sylph-ironlight.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, something you missed. Sam's area code on his phone is a Kansas code

"That sounds vaguely dirty, but thanks." And Sammy SMIRKS! Because he knows just what's gonna get up in Dean! *giggles*

Have I told you lately... that I love you? *spotlight on me with microphone* NO BUT REALLY ♥ Oh, my dear Anne. I couldn't agree more with everything you said.

The only other show that balances drama and comedy so well is the Joss'verse, SRSLY! No one else can pull that off except for Supernatural!! *clings to the show and never lets go*
I was such a gaspy, hand-over-mouth, teary-eyed mess when Sam was punching Dean, just the look on Dean's face, it was a pain that wasn't at all physical .... *cries just thinking of it* I'm so emotionally EXHAUSTED after each of these episodes!!

Have a fun and safe trip, my love!! Sounds like a great cause and good for you for getting involved!! ♥ Return to us soon before I go through withdrawl and have to start a program and wear an Anne-patch!

i'm sure there are important things in this episode, pivotal plotty shit, leik.

i can't see. i'm blinded by hotass.

I think the writers of SPN have a bet going on with the writers of SV to see who can gay up their show more.

SPN WINS. \o/

and, man. our show is getting so GOOD. Good editing, decent dialogue, good acting--it's WEIRD. Where are the 5-minute nights and the killer racist trucks?

[identity profile] theaeblackthorn.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, I'll admit I read half of this then my mind wandered. So many spn reactions on my flist I'm semi-responding to, BUTL

They just changed the town name on the sign.

I knew something sat wrong with me about that shot, but couldn't figure WHY. Ah well.

OMG I loved the begining! So AWESOME!

And I loved everything else.

Evil!Sam was so hot :X It's so wrong but omg!

I liked Jo in this one! I can't believe I'm saying this but she was kinda cool!

Hach have to watch it again ... soon

Have fun in Boston!

"I really loved how the beginning was edited, with the jerky cuts illustrating Dean's panic."

That was PRIME. It's the little things like that that puts me in such awe of this show.

"The scene where Sam was trying to get Dean to shoot him was so intense. I just - God, DEAN. He has such complete and utter faith in Sam, and also in his ability to save Sam, simply because he has to. There is no alternative. "I'd rather die." "

Now I know I'm a sap, but that scene got me misty real quick. The emotional scenes in this episode were wicked intense without being sappy and schmaltsy. PWNED.

"And BOBBY! Oh how I love Bobby. "Don't try to con a conman." YES!! *pumps fist* He is MADE of awesomesauce. He can totally stay :D"

Oh, Bobby is most DEFINITELY made of awesomesauce (<< XD). As soon as Sam showed up at the door I got so scared Bobby was going to be killed, but nope. Too much cunning and awesome.

""Shoulda known you wouldn't have the sack." *dies* What kind of line is THAT?"

XD REALLY. What's funnier is that even though no one on the face of the earth says that, it's universally understood.

Jesus, I've been posting on everyone else's review posts that I'll have no material left for my own now. LOL. Oh well, there can never be enough flailing.

She seemed much older in this episode, and I'm glad for that. I certainly don't mind her being an occasional returning character.

Totally! She seemed quite different here, much more mature and they've dropped the knife-twirling shtick which just made her look dumb. I quite liked this version of the character. And as long as they don't try to stuff her down our throats as a romantic interest, she can come back anytime.

And BOBBY! Oh how I love Bobby. "Don't try to con a conman." YES!! *pumps fist* He is MADE of awesomesauce. He can totally stay :D

Hell yeah! Bobby FTW! The more Bobby the better.
