Tonight, I drove 90 MPH for the first time ever! \o/

A few months ago, my mom got a few-years-used Saab (which is why I got her old Subaru) and it is a fucking awesome machine. I mean, these cars just fly, without so much as a whine of protest. The ignition is in between the seats, like in an airplane, because the Saab engineers are essentially aeronautics engineers. SO AWESOME. So tonight I had to go pick up my brother at like 11 PM so there was almost NO one on the highway, and I just put the pedal to the metal! WHEEEE! It has this awesome thing where if you accelerate hard enough, the TURBO kicks in and you just FLY. It's... amazing. And I wants.

I've decied that as soon as I'm self-sufficient and doing well for myself, the first thing I'm going to indulge myself on is a fun, spunky, sexy car. I LOVE CARS. *squiggles with glee*

I've gone up to 100 MPH before (on a friend's dare), and that was with a sports car. I don't know that I'd ever want to try it again, but it WAS a lot of fun at the time.

The thing is, I didn't even feel like I was going that fast! The car is that smooth, that easy. Just suddenly, bop! I was at 90! And I averaged about 80 for the whole trip.... what can I say, I got a need for speed! *g*

I drive 90 mph...... more than I should. Let's just say that.

BUT ISN'T IT AMAZING????????

HEEE. I WISH I had a car that didn't start vibrating alarmingly when I hit 75 or so... if I did, I think the 90 MPH thing would become a HABIT. A dirty, addictive habit. Mmmmmm. AMAZING.

When I was back east and driving between Boston and Londonderry, NH on a somewhat regular basis, I occasionally had to remind myself that 93 was the freeway number, not the speed limit. *G* Fast is fun!

Although, weirdly, I'm not fond of going fast in this damn rental Malibu. Not because it vibrates or whatever, but because it's so smooth and so far off the ground I literally cannot tell how fast I'm going, like I'll look at the speedometer on the freeway, utterly convinced I'm doing maybe 55, and it'll say 80. I need a fast car that actually feels fast, or I'll get myself in trouble.

(and my neon [RIP] topped out at 117 on I-80 in Utah with not too much vibration, but hot damn that felt fast.)

I was almost a little disappointed with how easy it was to go that fast in the Saab. It DIDNT feel all that fast, and I wanted to feel, yaknow, dangerous! Hee. My brother did say "I'd rather not die," though, or I might have pushed the limits a wee bit more *g*

HEEEEEEE! Go you!! \o/ That's awesome. I've driven a whole of like... 4 hours in my lifetime? XD But I learned on a stick and I seriously don't want an automatic. The second time I drove was an automatic and I realized how much I like the control of a stick. (this could get dirty so I think I'll stop!)

I looooove Saabs. There are so few around, but when I see one on the road I'm like *gimme hands* that's the only new car I even like. The only cars that catch my attention are classic/muscle cars; mustangs make me do a dance in my seat :D I'VE YET TO SEE AN IMPALA BUT IF I DID IT WOULD BE A GOOD THING I WOULDN'T BE DRIVING! I don't know how I've seen 3 cobras yet I haven't seen a single Impala! *pout*

Hee! Well, I think i'd enjoy a GOOD stick, but my car's kinda crappy - my dad drove it for a while, and he was like "wow, that's not a very good car to drive!" Haha. But the Saab is an automatic and it was weird not being so much in control, but it was still super fun! :D

I don't see many classic cars around here because I live in the land of BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Porsche, and Hummer. Everybody has to have sleek shiny new status symbols! I actually love those too, but I agree, hotass classics are the BEST. I wish I saw more of those around!
