And the wooing begins

I'm trying hard not to have a favorite between the three schools, but for one thing, Michigan already ACCEPTED me, and for another, their communications have been so sweet and pleasant! Take this tidbit from the email about the weekend I'm visiting:
We want to make sure that you're as comfortable as possible during your busy weekend in Ann Arbor. Please complete the list below with your favorite snacks and we'll make sure that some are waiting in your hotel room when you arrive. Please be as specific as you can.

Favorite juice/soda:

Favorite fruit:

Favorite snack (e.g., Original Wheat Thins, Nacho Cheesier Doritos, etc.)

Favorite candy bar:
Awwww!

Note to self: decision about next five years of life should not be based upon offers of snackfood. EVEN IF THEY ARE YOUR FAVORITES.

Hee. Anyway, today I'm leaving home and driving up to spend the day with my best friend, who lives a couple hours away. Then tomorrow we're driving back to school, spending the weekend together, and then classes start on Tuesday! Sigh sigh. I'm not worried about my two easy classes, actually, I just am really more than done with my research project and really don't want to spend four more months on it. Bah humbug.

Lalala hi loves! Mostly posting because I'm killing time so that I don't leave while it's still snowing.

PS I'm addicted to Lily Allen's album. I know, what.

WELL, I MEAN, SAN FRANCISCO WEATHER. JUST SAYIN'.

Hahaha. VERY TRUE. I chose three utterly different climates to apply in! However, as a New England gal, I think the lack of winters might actually freak me out, haha.

But you never have to shovel snow ever again! Though SF does have the danger of earthquakeS?

I'm a big fan of UDub myself (I REGRET NOT GOING THERE FOR UNDERGRAD SO MUCH DX) but then again, I don't know anything about the 3 programs. Seattle's gorgeous when it's not overcast hahaha. (And they did get dumped with snow this year!)

Offers of SNACKFOOD? To be WAITING in your HOTEL ROOM?

:O

You're like a motherfucking ROCKSTAR \o/

You'd better step up your game, UW!

OH MY GOD PRECIOUS. SO SO SO PRECIOUS. THAT IS LIKE BRADLEY JAMES-COLIN MORGAN LEVELS OF PRECIOUS.

(You see what I did there!?)

My classes have already started... F&M is weird, yo. I'm in advanced organic lab, which is me and three seniors and is basically Dr. G saying "Welcome to grad school!" Our grades are going to be based on our results (unlike in the basic organic lab)... I just resolved one enantiomer of 1,2-diaminocyclohexane, and then we're using that to synthesize a catalyst that we're going to use to form one enantiomer of an epoxide (he called it propylene oxide, I'm not sure what the IUPAC name is) and we're being graded on yield and purity of the epoxide.

And that's only the first seven weeks of the semester. (After that, he's going to split this mechanism project up into three parts and if everything works out, he's going to write it up and then we'll get published. UMWHAT.)

That was pretty unrelated but you're basically the only person in my life who understands that (other than Maggie, my chem buddy, but I already explained it to her).

OH HEY YOU'RE GOING TO GRAD SCHOOL! I've been thinking about you so much the past few days... I am truly truly thrilled for you. I understand what went into this process, and I remember reading as you blogged about your experiences in orgo two years ago, and I am just so, so proud of you and excited for you.

1) Congrats on all the good news
2) The favorite food thing is awesome
3) If when you go is anything like this week, as for soup and hot chocolate
4) If you go to San Francisco and you like sushi on little boats that go around a circle, I can direct you to my favorite place

I keep forgetting to congratulate you! This is so wonderful.

Are you hooked on Lily's first album? I don't think the second has come out yet, right?

UM is clearly awesome. Snack foods! (And so is Ann Arbor--btw, if you get the chance, you should definitely see downtown. And possibly the Dawn Treader bookstore in said downtown, as it is kind of my favorite little used books place in the entire world.)

lulz IRL.

But! If you go to Michigan, then we could have awesome meet-ups!

Although...San Francisco's where it's at, yanno.

And Seattle's got that whole hippie college student caffeinated vibe.

Tough decision, hon.
