I meant uncivilized in the sense that they don't have huge cities with shiny buildings. They live like the old west, and there's nothing wrong with that, just gives it all a cool rustic feel. Also, they're "uncivilized" in that they resist the rule of the "Alliance," which is the domineering government that controls the center planets.

I apologize as well for making it sound offensive, which I didn't intend at all. In fact, I love the Western aspect of the show... Mal (the captain) is a regular space cowboy! *grin*
