SPN 2x04 Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things

Okay so some thoughts before I FINALLY go to bed (omg 8 AM class on Fridays totally sucks - I always fangirl into the wee hours of the morning!)


First of all, just typing out that title of the episode felt bizarre, because 1) it doesn't REALLY fit the episode, and 2) HOMG it's long. CSPWDT? :P

The last scene is completely in my top five for the whole series. Dean is so split open. He's finally opening up to Sam, and that's GOOD, that's wonderful, but the unfortunate truth is that Sam can't help. He can't do anything but listen. And that is NO failure on Sammy's part - just the fact that he CAN listen, be there for Dean to open up TO, is a huge step forward and great and healthy and all that. But the issues - damn, they are just too fucking massive. Nothing can heal them. And all this is just stewing around in Dean - oh God. My poor, darling Dean. I came out of this episode just with DEEEEEEEEEAN *flails*

In a more general sense, I didn't like this ep as much as Bloodlust, for some reason. Maybe it was that I HATED the MOTW plot, so all the scenes with those horrible actresses kept yanking me out of my squee? But yes. Not as good as Bloodlust.

However, some absolutely priceless and heartbreaking moments.

SAM WATCHES LESBIAN PORN *dies* Aaaaand, "awkward!"

I loved that when Sam said "Are you high?!" Dean actually seemed to consider it. HEE.

"Wanna take another swing?" While it's awesome of Sam to say this, it's also hilarious because he's COMPLETELY serious. Punching Sam is like Dean's version of a pint of Haagen-Daaz. hee.

"And now I'm gonna lose you too?" *breaks*

"You and Dad... you're the most important people in my life" - sdjsdlafkjsdf which means SAM is THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN DEAN'S WHOLE LIFE NOW. I mean... could they love each other ANY more? That's a big fat NO.

I also loved that Dean completely rejected the roadhouse in favor of Sammy. Not even a mention or thought for Jo. WOO! He wasn't about to leave his little brother alone, no matter how much the thought of going to Mary's grave bothered him.

Basically I want to edit this episode to just the Sam-and-Dean scenes, because they were fabulous. AS USUAL.

And the PROMO FOR NEXT WEEK...

Omigod. It looks SO INTENSE. Sam teetering on the edge of the Dark Side! I seriously cannot wait. EEEE.

Alright, I'd read your post before I saw the episode and was totally caught off guard by the Sam watches porn line. Haha, didn't take him for that type but then he's a guy after all ^^ Dean's face when he came back to the motel was priceless :)

Well put! And Sam's apparently not the only Winchester who's good at guilt-tripping and it looks like Dean's still far from even trying to accept what his father did. What breaks me a little though is the idea that Dean doesn't seem to understand why his father did it, thinking he might wasn't worth it maybe. *group hug*

That was pretty much my reaction as well. I didn't care much for the MOTW, either, but the Sam and Dean stuff was so beyond awesome that it kind of made up for it. (I watched it again with two friends last night, and they were all "WTF is up with acting, why are you flailing?" And I was just going "WAIT FOR THE ENDING, IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT."

I haven't seen the promo for next week (but you're making me angst. I CANNOT WAIT!!), but I'm just in the middle of rewatching this week's ep (and inbetween checking my flist because I'm craving the wincester love). Just watched it a few hours ago with my Steff for the first time and damn. Love! We laughed ("We're your grief counselors, we're here to... hug." XD BEST. LINE. EVER), we squeed, we gushed (SAM TAKING THE GUN OUT OF THE BACK OF HIS JEANS? HELLO FANSERVICE!!! *guh*), we woobied, we cried maybe a little at the end and basically flailed a lot. The MOTW plot wasn't the bestest, but all in all okay, better than the clown one, and dude, the moments inbetween? SO MUCH LOVE.
And yeah, you were the first person that happened across my way apart from Steff that I could gush on, so sorry for the dump of caps.

When I was watching this and Sam started trying to get Dean to share his feelings I immediately said "Dean is SO gonna want to punch him again". I love that Sam just OFFERS it in the hope that it would make Dean feel better.
