I do believe that FNL 1x16 Black Eyes and Broken Hearts just went in my top five faves of the season. What a wonderful, powerful episode. I cried! I did!

I just took a very eye opening class on race this semester, as you may know, so watching the issues play out in such a vivid way is truly fascinating, especially since all of the sides and attitudes and causes are so familiar to me. The show captures reality exquisitely well, in almost painful detail. These PEOPLE. They're so... HUMAN. It's incredible. Mac made some dumb comments, but they didn't leave him as the "asshole racist" - no, he became very sympathetic, by tendering his resignation and then the scene where he turns away the cops who are looking for Smash. His redemption wasn't easy, but he got there, and it was all so believable and touching. And I loved Smash taking a stand, but I also loved that he came back.

Coach is also very human. He sometimes makes decisions with his heart that he should probably make with his head, and he also sometimes has no idea what to say to his newly rebellious daughter. He's flawed and wonderful at the same time. My favorite coach moment? When all the reporters are babbling obnoxiously and he yells "I'LL START TALKIN WHEN Y'ALL STOP." Bwee! All reporters need to be dealt with that way. I HATE reporters. They're like VULTURES. *flails* So I love him to the ends of the UNIVERSE for that. I also loved when he was talking to Mrs. Coach and asking to talk to the different sides of her. "I want to talk to the guidance counselor, I need some straight advice" and then "Now can I talk to my wife?" and then the friend side of her (which, EEE) and then afterwards he was like "The three of you scare me." TEEHEE. They are impossibly wonderful. Yay!

Tyra! Oh Tyra. I do love you, girl, but you need to not be draggin Julie Taylor down into the muck! (hahaha, I just typed Julie Saracen by accident... gettin a wee bit ahead of myself! *g*) I hope she redeems herself, somehow, because it is really unfortunate what she's doing.

Julie and Matt, however - CUTEST EVER. Eeeee! "Will you be my girlfriend?" YES MATT I WILL. *gimmehands* He's SO adorable, and the necklace was just so sweet, and I love that the lady at the store gave him half off because she was so sweetly amused by him! Awwww! YAY KIDS! Go be happy and squishy together! :D

My favorite moment of the episode was when that asshole player on the other team was sayin shit to Smash after that uncalled-for tackle in the endzone, and Riggins was listening and looking more and more pissed and finally just DRILLED HIM. YES OMG. I am falling more and more in love with Riggins every SECOND. Gah! I mean, I know the whole brawl was really not good, but the other team was a bunch of FUCKTARDS, and he was defending Smash!! His RIVAL! Eeeeeeee!

...I may or may not want Smash/Riggins fic.

Yay love love love!

So I've been waiting to start thinking about my next music vid until the Supernatural season was over, and now it is, so I have begun! I finally downloaded Final Cut Pro, and it's very similar to Premiere so my learning curve shouldn't be that steep. Aaaaand I think I've decided on the song "Saving Grace" by Tom Petty. It's a really awesome song with a great beat to vid to, and some beautiful lyrics that just SCREAM "Winchester" to me. I've been struggling with my POV choice and thanks to some brainstorming with [livejournal.com profile] shinetastic I think I decided to split up the vid between Sam and Dean's POV, taking a look at how they've seen each other at different points in this season. You can read and listen to lyrics and a streaming download here. Yay! I do love vidding :D

I forgot to mention that I saw "Waitress" in a theater in the city with my girls on Thursday! It was WONDERFUL. The movie had such a beautiful heart, such a powerful emotional center in the character played by Keri Russell. Her performance was fantastic. It's laugh out loud funny, but also a very human story of suffering and strength. Absolutely gorgeous, all around. And our darling Nathan is sweet as PIE *beams* With his bumbling charm and his big blue eyes and oh oh. I love him so MUCH. Robin and I probably pissed off the whole theater with our squeals of "NATHAN!" Heehee. Oops? I love, I love a lot. If you get a chance to see it, DO. I'm going again with my mom later this week :D

Whee!

Mel and I are singing the pie song in honor of Nathan at the moment, though I am apparently using the wrong lyrics.

OH NATHAN. *sobs*
