Things wot are awesome:

  • This montage of Topher being... well, Topher:

  • Amy Gumenick is filming her lead guest role on Castle right now! For those who don't know, she played Mary on Supernatural and she's such a doll.A photo from Jon Huertas's Twitter )
  • This post from Jezebel: A Gallery of Extremely Handsome British Men. The post itself is kind of lacking, but the comments are gold. Damian Lewis! Ewan McGregor! Matthew Goode! David Tennant! Jamie Bamber! Yessss. ♥ (Obviously, Scotsmen are not British, though they do live in the United Kingdom. However, Irish I will not tolerate being called British. Just sayin!)
  • I just made this because it needed to be made. Every time I feel whiny about the Michigan winter weather, I visualize this: A very apt motivational poster )
  • STARK SANDS HAS A LEADING ROLE IN THE BROADWAY PRODUCTION OF AMERICAN IDIOT. :DDDDDDD I haven't even watched all of Gen Kill but already I LOVE Stark and his face. I was wishing that I could get to see American Idiot anyway, but now I'm talking about road tripping to NYC for this shit with my Chicago crew. MFY.
  • I get to see Gold Motel with [livejournal.com profile] angel726 this weekend!! :DDDDD
  • Tomorrow my darling Steffen is making dinner for me and Kate and Francisco. I'm SO excited. Kate's making dessert too! I love those three fools beyond all reason. I've realized that they perfectly parallel my three besties from Ireland - two boys and a gal - and I feel the same kind of comfort and joy around them. I am so grateful to have found that - within a 14 person program to boot! Every day I have to restrain the urge to just hug them and tell them how much I love them. ♥
  • I don't have to make a presentation for class tonight! WOOOOO! I have had to make two a week for the past three weeks and it got a little old. :P Instead I'm drinking whiskey and cranberry, putting together a Liebgott spam (keep an eye out for that!), and considering watching Life or Southland or GenKill or Friday Night Lights or just anything. (Maybe Band of Brothers? TELL ME YOU'RE SHOCKED.) Too much awesome TV! <33
  • Speaking of TV, my thoughts: The latest Bones was SO FRICKIN WONDERFUL. Angela and Hodgins! ♥____♥ White Collar has pretty much redeemed itself to me, thankfully, so I can just enjoy the OT3 pretty. Castle is still perfect all the goddamn time - ugh, SO MUCH LOVE. Friday Night Lights, while lacking a bit of the old resonance while they're trying to develop new characters, continues to be riveting and beautiful television. I love that Timmy's still around, as he and Coach and Tami pretty much make everything worth it. Dollhouse ends tomorrow - I'm heartbroken and resigned, but excited to see what Joss has whipped up. Leverage has been okay - the new gal is fine, but the latest two plots have seemed too hokey for me. I never say no to shirtless Hardison though. ♥ And I... still haven't watched last week's Supernatural. Maybe I should get on that, huh?

And that's that! There are some things that are un-awesome - what the fuck do I do about Dave? - but I'm going to let this post stand on its own and let you just roll around in the AWESOME. And don't forget - lotsa Lieb sooon! :D

How are you my dears? ♥

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] sorchasilver, a TV meme!

Pick your five favorite TV shows (in no particular order) and answer the following questions. Don't cheat!

1. Supernatural
2. Friday Night Lights
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4. Bones
5. Firefly

(This is kind of a "now" skewed list - I love far too many TV shows!)

The questions! )

I do so love TV! I'm in the process of deciding what to watch next. I feel SO BEREFT without any more Bones or Big Bang Theory to watch! I finished both in the same night, after months of devouring them together. It's strange - they're completely different shows, but my emotional focal point for both is the same. An oddly matched pair (a geek meets a sexy yet semi-awkward cool person) that is obviously magnetically attracted yet cannot seem to acknowledge it themselves. Both do a sort of yo-yo of requited and not. And it's VERY FRUSTRATING. But I love them both so much. (OMG PENNY GROW A SPINE!!!!!!!!)

I am going to continue with Freaks & Geeks, because it is all kinds of charming, but I need something else as well. Generation Kill? True Blood? Legend of the Seeker? How I Met Your Mother? Help, o wise and all-knowing flist! Tell me about characters I will love (without spoilers!), because that is my key to loving any show.

In other, sad TV news, Stargate: 90210 is made of a million kinds of fail. At this point, I'm wondering how the fuck these people ever gave us Atlantis. SGA was not close to perfect, but it was deeply charming and showed real heart sometimes. I'm wondering if that was truly a result of the cast and its glorious chemistry, because I'm seeing none of that in the SGU bits we've gotten. UGHHHHHH.

In other happier news, I'm LOVING Naomi Novik's His Majesty's Dragon. LOVE!!!!!! Will Laurence, come here and be my empathetic, elegant boyfriend right now!! I fell in love with him within two pages and he has only endeared himself to me further. It's fascinating living inside his head because he is such a product of his time, but lacks any sort of malice in his prejudices. For instance, when he's shocked and appalled by a female dragonrider wearing men's clothing, and muses that riding dragons must be very trying on her slight frame, he's not repugnant, simply a fascinating example of the mindset of that time. He has no hostility towards her, merely surprise and curiosity. I love himmmmmm somuch! And Temeraire, oh Temeraire! *draws a lot of hearts*

Now I'm going to watch last week's Leverage, which I somehow forgot about!

Note to self: six hours of sleep is NOT, in fact, enough, so you should go to bed RIGHT NOW and get about 7. Do not pass go, do not watch another episode of Friday Night Lights. Even if Lyla's little heart is shattering right before your eyes, even if Tim Riggins is bursting your ovaries by hanging out with a doofy little 10 year old, even if the Taylors put a zillion hearts in your eyes, even if Tyra is finally realizing her sparkling potential.

GO TO BED. *stern face*

(You guys you guys the next episode is MUDBOWL!!!!!! Do I have the strength?!?)

ETA: Okay fine, so I'm weak. But that is one of the most powerful hours of television ever made, I think. (Tyra!!!!!!)

*pokes at the internet* *poke poke*

So I guess none of y'all are too interested in miss Minka Kelly. That's alright, I just think your lives are thus a little less sparkly.

I have been powering my way through my FNL S1 rewatch. It's just so damn GOOD. Even upon rewatching I've got tear tracks on my cheeks at the end of every episode. The characters capturing me the most are Lyla and Timmy and Smash. And Coach. And Matt. And Julie. And Tyra. And Tami. And Jason. And oh wait everyone! It's so interesting to press rewind on these kids' lives. Lyla and Tyra in particular change so fundamentally between the beginning to the end of S3, and to see the start of their journeys is just fascinating. I appreciate Tyra's depth more this time through, even though it's subtle, because I know what it burgeons into. And Lyla - well. &Lyla;!

Today my mommy arrived for a weekend visit! She's here for the awards ceremony which is happening tomorrow. Today got up to 90 degrees, it was kind of insane. There's a Spring Arts thing that was happening on campus, which basically meant live music and free (shitty) food, so we wandered through that. But it was so damn hot that we actually just wanted to get inside so we went to the mall, haha. My mom is pretty loose with the credit card when it comes to her daughters and the mall, so I had a lot of fun! :P I got a new gorgeous summery dress, an awesome denim patchwork shoulder bag, a pair of jean capris, and some fancy black dress sandals for graduation. It was a most successful trip! Then we went to dinner at the local creperie, om nom nom nommmmmm, where I had "The Capri" which consisted of melted fresh mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, basil, and olive oil. YUM YUM. I followed it up with a brown sugar and butter crepe. TRIPLE YUM. Hee.

Then we went to see the student choreographed dance show because my friend was in one of the dances. I'll be blunt - I do not get modern dance. A bunch of people mucking about on a stage, doing random things that only sometimes seem related to each other, with odd music or sound effects or even NO music. I just do not understand it in any way, and it doesn't usually even trigger my aesthetic beauty buttons. I just watch with my head tilted in confusion. A couple of the pieces were neat though, and I particularly loved a big African piece with a whole bunch of girls and two drummers, and the piece my friend was in, which was a gorgeous fusion of traditional Chinese dance and Western dance. Those were lovely.

Aaaand then we wandered over to Battle of the Bands which was going on in the center of campus, and saw a couple songs by this incredible duo - a dude on guitar and a girl on drums and vocals, and that's it. They were damn talented and could certainly jam, but their songs very much subscribed to the very long and unstructured tradition. They were entertaining though.

Then we came home and I watched more Friday Night Lights. You're shocked, I know!

Tomorrow it's supposed to be 80s again. I'm going to wear my pretty new dress, (which you can see HERE, I got the blue one!) go to brunch at a friend's apartment, be given three awards, and go out to dinner at a fancy local brewery. It's gonna be a good day! I hope you're all enjoying your weekends too. ♥

I have developed the most ENORMOUS girlcrush on Minka Kelly of Friday Night Lights. I don't even know where it came from, but I am SO FOND!!! For starters, she is easily one of the most effortlessly beautiful people I have ever seen in my life. Her smile always makes me want to smile back. Beyond that, she has achieved the most gorgeous character growth with Lyla, taking her from perky little girl to endearing, independent woman whom I love with all my heart. And knowing all that is making my S1 rewatching experience that much richer - I just ended the episode "It's Different For Girls" completely bawling. LYLAAAA!

I have been finding out so many darling things about Minka herself though. Did you know her dad was a guitarist for Aerosmith? Steven Tyler babysat her! Heeeee. She likes guys who can change their oil because she can. She has an adorable puppy named CHEWBACCA. Before she was an actress, she was a surgeon's assistant, and in the interview I'm about to link speaks very eloquently and passionately about how transformative that experience was. She just seems like a person with so much heart and soul, so genuine and modest and sweet and lovely. I oddly see something of myself in her - something about her self-effacing manner, and how she gets when she's talking about something she loves, using her hands a lot and trying to articulate as best as she can. Basically, I adore her, and this interview is the most precious thing ever:

Don't you want to squish her to your chest?? She's so sweet!! She tells Bonnie Hunt she's a fan of MONSTER'S INC! And at the end when Bonnie compliments her, her startled little face and flaily "thank you"! AWWW, MINKA. Be more adorable, I dare you. And that dress is SO cute. Also I COVET her hair.

I just... adore her, a lot a lot. I binged on galleries of photos of her last night. I'm just mesmerized! She's always wearing the most adorable clothes toooo. I want her to be my best friend ♥ Have a few of my favorites! Minka Kelly: I'd bang her like a screen door )

Ugh, MINKA. I am so so so so fond. I just had to share :D

I have a new header! :D

It's of the most beautiful couple on television, Tim and Lyla of Friday Night Lights. I didn't used to be terribly fond of miss Lyla, but now she's definitely one of my favorite characters on the show, and she and Tim complement each other gorgeously. And they are certainly not hard on the eyes! Take a look ---> [livejournal.com profile] exsequar

I also changed my journal title and stuff to Mandy Moore lyrics. I'm so obsessed with her Wild Hope album and I can't wait for Amanda Leigh! Random note regarding the title of this post - that's a lyric from a song called Most Of Me, and I think it's the only verbal use of the strike through I've ever heard! I always imagine it like this: "You still get allmost of me." It's quite clever!

Speaking of Timmy and Lyla, does anyone know where I can find the picture in my icon? It's the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen but I've never seen the fullsize!

In conclusion, if you're not watching Friday Night Lights, you're a crazy person. <3

ETA: So I just binged on Minka Kelly (Lyla) photos because she's so ridiculously stunning, and I've found photos of her with the most random people, including Kristen Bell and Zac Efron and Piper Perabo. But the icing on the cake is that I just found a photo of Minka and Mandy Moore! Clearly this header was karmically meant to be :D They look to be having a totally adorable conversation too. &Minka;!! I totally have a girlcrush on her!

Today has been profoundly... blah. My head hurts and my eyes are tired from crying. Both of my roommates were gone all day, so it was quiet and lonely. A friend came over and watched the two latest SPN eps, but other than that I was totally alone. I put up some posters in my room, I watched most of the SPN S2 ep "What is and What Should Never Be" (holy crap that EPISODE), I sort of ate some food (grocery trip necessary...), I watched The Lookout (with Joseph Gordon Levitt and Matthew Goode - quiet and powerful, I recommend it for fans of either actor), and I fought with my mom. I just feel like crap.

I might go watch an episode of Friday Night Lights to make me feel better, and to celebrate its being picked up for TWO MORE SEASONS YAY! I still don't understand why not every single person on my flist loves this show, but in another (futile?) attempt at converting, I'll link you to a pimping list. Please look at it? I promise, PROMISE you won't regret giving this show a chance.

Ten Reasons to Watch Friday Night Lights

Seriously, guys. Seriously.

I'm going to go continue being blob-like.

A list.

Gerard: forever my favorite geek.

Mikeyway: forever my second favorite geek.

Grad school: terrifying and thrilling all at once. I found a guy I REALLY want to work with at Michigan. His research is into new ways of tackling neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers. Amazing. (Monica and other geeks on my flist, you should check out his website.)

Two days ago: My journal's 4 year anniversary! Huzzah! *throws confetti*

Merlin: Adorkable and gay and inexplicably still addicting. Nom nom.

Radiohead: AWESOME. I know I'm late on this bandwagon, whatever. I'm in love with OK Computer.

Michelle: My favorite bestest. ILHER.

Aldi: Awesome German grocery store that I happened to spot here and remembered from Dublin. REALLY CHEAP. Amazing A+ find <3333

Being too broke to afford textbooks: Sucky.

Angel and Buffy: Forever and eternally OTP. Watched "I Will Remember You" today. Sobbed like baby.

Friday Night Lights 3x13: Very very sad. It felt pretty... final, really. There's room to move forwards, but it also feels like a chapter has truly been closed. Timmy: still my favorite. Coach and Tami: still awesome. Sigh. Show of my heart. :(

Battlestar 4x11: Absolutely brutal. Sheezus. If that's what we're to expect for the rest of the season, oh dear lord. I'm scared yet super duper excited.

This is me being too lazy to write a real entry, and also procrastinating on going to bed. But there's only so long that can go on. Toodles!

Gnrk.

*sighs at lab reports and shitty data and days spent hibernating inside and exams around the corner and car needing repairs and being out of clean socks*

*smiles at Merlin's ridiculousness and Lyla and Timmy Riggins' preciousness and emails from Jeremy about taking us out drinking Monday night and plans to see Dave tonight and nomming on chips and french onion dip even though eating too much made me feel vaguely ill*

Pointless post is pointless! Here, have the macro I found as the background to the computer I work on at my job yesterday.

1. NEW X-FILES MOOOOVIE! BWEEEEE! The footage from Wondercon is fantastic - David and Gillian look radiant! (Scroll back through [livejournal.com profile] xfiles to see everything) I didn't manage to see the trailer when it was leaked, but I hope something will surface soon. I also saw spoilery shots from the set and all I can say is - EEEEE! :D

2. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS GOT PICKED UP FOR S3!!!!!! This is the best TV news possible - I was utterly convinced that 2x15 was the last episode ever, and while that wouldn't have been the WORST place to stop... I want moooore! And I'm gonna get iiiit! :D:D:D YAY MORE TAYLORS! And Timmy and Matt and Tyra and Landry and Smash and Street and EVERYONE! YAYE!

3. Torchwood was fun this week, but I kind of had issues with it. I wish I didn't hate the Powers That Be's favorite character (that is, Gwen) D: MOAR IANTO PLZ.

4. I just watched Stardust and... HAHAHAHA. So. Much. Crack! Though I must say, it improved in quality immensely when the main character stopped being a douchebag and got a makeover by a gay pirate that included sexy long hair, swashbuckling skills, and floofy sleeves. THUMBS UP! Claire Danes was darling once she stopped being a cranky biatch. And Michelle Pfeiffer was awesome. Robert De Niro... I have no words. WIN. One curiosity - IMDB tells me that David Walliams played one of the dead brothers, but I didn't recognize him at ALL. Which one was he??

5. Ummmm right, I have a real life that is not TV or movies! So tomorrow is the last day of term, which is actually depressing because this term has been fucking AMAZING. I love most of my classes, my schedule actually was really nice, I didn't have LAB so I had zero work to do except attending lectures and maybe studying occasionally, I was able to go out once or twice a week with my awesome friends, and it was just a really charmed period. Now I have March break, which is going to be INSANE but AMAZING (Bestie in a week! Daddy and sis after that! [livejournal.com profile] nebulein and Germany after that! Five birthday parties in the midst of all that! St Patrick's Day in Dublin! OMG!) but then I start... the last term. Which is short, and will be fraught with lab reports and frantic studying for the epic and terrifying end of year exams, which I am predicting means much less revelry and hanging out with my beautiful friends, and much more stress D: Oh dear. I don't wanna! And I don't wanna leave my city! Siiiigh. But! I have three weeks before that sets in, so I am going to enjoy it!

Toodles!
