So I had yet another adventurous weekend of fun! On Friday after work, I drove up to my cousins' so that we could go to the Renaissance faire on Saturday. The morning dawned dark and stormy, but we went anyway, hoping it would clear. When we got there, it was still raining, but not as hard, so we went in to the almost empty faire, where vendors were huddled under their tents. About 15 minutes after we got there, the sky opened up with another deluge, complete with teeth-rattling thunder, so we sheltered in an armorer's booth. After that passed, it rained rather lightly for another hour before it finally stopped, and the sky gradually cleared to yield a sunny, extremely muggy day. I almost missed the cool rain! The day was a fun adventure anyway. I bought myself a costume for the next faire we go to, and all the ones we'll be going to in the future - I don't have a picture yet, but it's a long grey-green dress with pretty bunched sleeves that flow away from my elbows, along with a cream bodice with a curly golden pattern all over it, which laces up VERY TIGHT and makes my, ahem, endowment very apparent. *grins* It's totally sexy and I'm really excited to wench it up at the next faire, mwahaha.

My favorite part though was the HORSELESS JOUST. The horses would have hurt themselves in the deep mud, so instead the "knights" ran around poking each other with lances. It was hilarious. Here are a handful of photos from the day! )

Also during the weekend, Meg started watching the Angel DVDs I lent her - she's never seen it before, despite being a massive Buffy and Firefly fan and a general Whedon accolyte! We blazed through 6 episodes during the weekend and I think she loves it. We even watched I Will Remember You, because I had a moment of masochism, and owwwww my heart. I love that show so much. ♥ It's extremely bizarre to see David be all young and broody and foreheady, though, after watching all this Bones. He kind of seems like a different person! I love both versions though. :)

Then today Meg and I went to IKEA!!!!! Woo!!! It was an extremely successful trip, as you can see:

Those boxes contain 4 major pieces of furniture, and I got several other odds and ends, but the whole thing only came to $650! IKEA, ilusomuch. Meg and I had an absolute blast, even when we had to haul all those boxes into the back of the van in the ~90 degree muggy heat (ughhhh).

Come see what I bought! )

I love all of it SO MUCH and I can't wait to put it all together in my new room! Eee!

I was planning on going out for drinks with some of the girls in my program tonight, but I got home from IKEA around 4:30, sat down to catch my breath, then headed straight into my lab where I worked for almost 2 hours. There were some things I just really needed to get done. Then I got home and ate and showered but at that point I was like.... I want to lie in my bed and make an LJ post and watch Bones. Really. So I decided not to go. :( I'm going to plan a night out for next week though since it's my biiirthday, yay!

I hope you all had fun weekends too! ♥

Finally, I want to say a belated-in-her-time-zone but no less heartfelt HAPPY BIRTHDAY [livejournal.com profile] schneestern!!! ILU. ♥

Happy Mother's Day!! I know there's a lot of strong, awesome moms on my flist, and I just want to say I respect you so hard, and you are all amazing. I hope you had a lovely day. ♥ I sent my mommy a card and a gift certificate for a 30 minute massage, so I hope she enjoys that :)

My day was pretty intense. My friend Dierdre has been single-handedly planning and running this charity drive called Dump N Run, where we put boxes in all the dorms and public buildings, and students put stuff they dont want anymore in them as they're moving out of college. We collect all the stuff, sort it, and sell it in a big community yard sale. So all last week I went around gathering boxes almost every day, lugging stuff to my car and dragging it into the sports center where we were storing it. Yesterday I worked for 6 hours gathering the last of the stuff (it took me and Matt 4 trips in his Jeep from ONE dorm building) and helping to sort it in the gym. We ended up with unbelievable piles of stuff - a couch, some armchairs, several desks, a couple bookcases and dressers, a kitchen table set, hundreds of pounds of clothes of all sorts, four entire tables full of food (like soup, oatmeal, granola bars, those kinds of things), four tables of shoes, and lots of miscellania. So today I woke up at 8 to help Dierdre make and put out signs, then the sale started at 12. By 11, people were already lining up, and at 12 there were at least 50 people in line, probably more. When we opened, it was a flood! Within 45 minutes, 90% of the stuff was gone, leaving mostly crap. We made - wait for it - at least $1800. Yay!!!! I was so proud of Dierdre, and glad that I'd taken part, but oh boy I'm exhausted. I have a bad back, so the six hours yesterday of standing and lifting completely did a number on it, and even ibuprofen and icing isn't really doing anything. Bah. Oh well, it was a good thing to do, and the money's going to the local Domestic Violence Services and a food kitchen. Yay!

Michelle and I came home and collapsed around 1:30. We watched two episodes of Leverage to relax, as you do! Elliot, I love your FACE, and OH HARDISON!!! How are they so amazing? Parker is absolutely growing on me too, especially after the episode with the orphans. "We're more than a team." AWWW team. *draws hearts* My main stumbling block with this show is that I just... don't like the two older leads, Timothy Hutton especially. He is frequently ridiculous in the bad way and almost never funny and I spend most of his screen time rolling my eyes. But whatever! Little team kids! A little crazy and dorky and badass and snarky! A millllllion hearts.

We then got a craving for Christian Kane so we watched two random Angel episodes, first Disharmony because it was on the disc (HARMONY *hearts*) and then... the one with the Evil Hand!!!1!!1, I forget what it's called. Now of course I'm listening to Kane because Christan could croon to me ALL DAY, unf. Where is his next album?! Sigh.

Michelle made tasty pasta with salmon and pesto sauce, and then she went to bed, so now I'm just chillin on my couch doing NOTHING. This would be even more awesome if my back wasn't killing me, but as it is it's pretty damn awesome. \o/ I am almost a million percent done with college! YAY!

La la la I'll stop rambling at you. Maybe I'll finish the SPN fic I've been reading - I know! Amazing! :D

Andy Hallett, 33, Dies of Heart Failure

Andy played Lorne, the lovable and larger than life musical demon on Angel. He was vibrant and wonderful and he will be missed. RIP, Andy.

:(

A list.

Gerard: forever my favorite geek.

Mikeyway: forever my second favorite geek.

Grad school: terrifying and thrilling all at once. I found a guy I REALLY want to work with at Michigan. His research is into new ways of tackling neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers. Amazing. (Monica and other geeks on my flist, you should check out his website.)

Two days ago: My journal's 4 year anniversary! Huzzah! *throws confetti*

Merlin: Adorkable and gay and inexplicably still addicting. Nom nom.

Radiohead: AWESOME. I know I'm late on this bandwagon, whatever. I'm in love with OK Computer.

Michelle: My favorite bestest. ILHER.

Aldi: Awesome German grocery store that I happened to spot here and remembered from Dublin. REALLY CHEAP. Amazing A+ find <3333

Being too broke to afford textbooks: Sucky.

Angel and Buffy: Forever and eternally OTP. Watched "I Will Remember You" today. Sobbed like baby.

Friday Night Lights 3x13: Very very sad. It felt pretty... final, really. There's room to move forwards, but it also feels like a chapter has truly been closed. Timmy: still my favorite. Coach and Tami: still awesome. Sigh. Show of my heart. :(

Battlestar 4x11: Absolutely brutal. Sheezus. If that's what we're to expect for the rest of the season, oh dear lord. I'm scared yet super duper excited.

This is me being too lazy to write a real entry, and also procrastinating on going to bed. But there's only so long that can go on. Toodles!

So those darling FBR boys gave me a beautiful going away present by being THE MOST PRECIOUS EVER EVER. EVER. The most ridiculous thing Pete ever bought? RYAN ROSS. Brendon's balls haven't dropped! Pete Ryan and Brendon went to the movies together! "Do you like men that play music?" THEIR FUCKING SMILES. Ugh, they're such precious precious children. I'm hoping that they sell Kerrang! in Ireland so I can pick up a copy of this for myself!

Speaking of Ireland.... THIS IS IT BABY! I'm leaving for the airport with my dad in about an hour. I'm all (erm, almost all) packed and ready to go. I just finished up Angel S5 and pretty much all I have to say is that Angel/Spike is the most epic love story ever :D So I've got that behind me, and a flight ahead of me, and in about 12 hours I will be landing in Dublin! YAY!

This probably means a certain amount of radio silence from me. I'll definitely not be able to check my flist very often, so if anything super exciting happens in any of my fandoms, I'd really appreciate a heads up. You know, a new article or interview or pictures, or perhaps Jensen and Jared announce their engagement, you know, whatever. I'll be around at some point, I just don't know when. I'll try to let you know as soon as I can that I'm alive! I love you all muchly. *hugs everyone* Be good while I'm gone!

So I've finally picked up Angel again - I'd stalled early in season 4 a couple months ago, when I got into Farscape and Atlantis and what have you. But I finally watched the next episode and now I've been plowing through steadily, cause it's so damn good.

I just watched the S4 ep where Wesley gets Faith out of jail. She... she just DOES things to me. I care about the characters on this show, I do, and I'm engaged in pretty much all the plotlines. But Faith's on for one episode and already she's got me crying. First she has me flailing and making small muffled noises of joy and want. Then she has me going "nnnngh" with the whole take charge bit. And then she's all broked and I want to cuddle her and make her better and so I cry. And um. I'm in love with Faith Lehane. The end.

*smitten sigh*

Anyone who says Kripke's the new Joss? Yeah, um... no. Not really.

I will not turn this into a bash of Kripke but instead a WORSHIP AT THE ALTAR OF WHEDON. Because holy god. It's been a long time since I watched one of his shows linearly that was mostly new to me, and AUGH. I just watched Angel 3x14, "Couplet", and and and I'M A LITTLE BROKEN. Spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it yet - what are you waiting for? )

Why YES Joss Whedon, I WILL have your babies. Your pasty white BRILLIANT babies.

So ya'll know that Dr. Who/Torchwood nonsense you've been squealing about? Well I'm finally CAVING. *shakes head* It was only a matter of time.

I expressed interest to Michelle about seeing Torchwood, and she was like oooh well first you should meet Jack! So she showed me the first ep that Jack appears in (The Empty Child and the second part, which *shivers* CREEPY!) and then the two part season finale (we skipped the one in between, except for the beginning scene with "Through TIME! and SPACE!" Cutest EVER) and oh my god, SO GOOD! *flappyhands* I love Rose and the Doctor and JACK! Oh JACK. When he's in that white tshirt, holding the gun and speechifying impassionedly? I THINK I FELT MY OVARIES EXPLODE. Nnnnngh.

So now Rach has pointed me to where I can acquire Torchwood, and I'm on my way baby!

Also, LOOK! I already have an ICON! Because seriously, that man's smile? Is shockingly, mind-bogglingly brilliant. Good lord.

Oh also! I was watching ep 3x12 Provision of Angel, and I saw in the guest names JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN! I squeaked really loudly and flailed about. And he was lovely! All young and round faced and smooth and suitified and awwwww JEFF! *snuggles him* Also? His part was so ridiculously gay, I can't even *hands* His "business partner" had died, and he was going to these ridiculous extreme lengths to get back his friend's watch from the vamps that killed him, because he (Jeff) gave him the watch. I mean, COME ON. That couldn't be any more gay if they TRIED. *loves forever and ever*
exsequar: (Default)
So I watched four episodes of Angel season 3 tonight - 3x03 - 3x06. I LOVE this show. Wow. The whole ensemble just works *so* perfectly - everyone brings their own element, and I adore every single one of them. I'm particularly crushing on Fred (see beautiful new icon!) and Gunn. (Not as a pair right now, though I adore it when it happens) Oh oh. It's just so good!!!! WHEDON IS MY MASTER. *prostrates self at his feet* He needs to do a new TV project, stat.

So yes, mucho love!

Also, I watched the SPN gag reel and Day in the Life with Kelly, who finished S1 but didn't watch those! SO MUCH LOVE OMG. How are they the best boys in the history of EVER?!

Also also, I adore my flist. You guys are so sweet and kind and supportive. *hugs everyone* And [livejournal.com profile] tvm bought me a rose! *squishes her* THANK YOU HONEY! You are all just awesome, and who needs boys anyway?? :)

Fic rec!

I have a rec for you all!

Once Like a Spark (Prologue and Ch. 1) (Chapter 2) by [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia - SPN/ANGEL CROSSOVER
So this is an AU where Sam and Dean both work at Wolfram and Hart, but they are unrelated and meet early on in the story. Lindsey and Angel and the rest of the gang also make appearances too! I won't say too much so as not to spoil you, but suffice to say it is HOT and PORNY and FABULOUS. The pairing's Sam/Dean, with a side of Dean/Lindsey. It's AWESOME, yo, and you should all read it STAT. And then poke at her for a new update!

I bought a totally hotass Boondock Saints tshirt from Hot Topic, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] quietdiscerning who pointed out that it was on sale for 8 bucks! I wore it yesterday, in honor of Hot Guys Who Kill Evil With Guns Day. I kept looking down at my boobs and seeing Connor and Murphy and being really gleeful \o/ This is the one I got.

I totally need a Dean/Lindsey or Jensen/Chris icon. Cause, YUM.
