exsequar: (SN Bros love the whole of you)

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] sorchasilver, a TV meme!

Pick your five favorite TV shows (in no particular order) and answer the following questions. Don't cheat!

1. Supernatural
2. Friday Night Lights
3. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
4. Bones
5. Firefly

(This is kind of a "now" skewed list - I love far too many TV shows!)

01. Who's your favourite character in 2? (FNL)
Ooh, that's tough to say from one of the best ensemble casts out there. I think in terms of consistent awesome and blowing my mind... nope, still too many on the list. We'll say Tami Taylor, but right behind her is her hubby Eric, Timmy Riggins, Lyla, Tyra, and oh wait everyone. :)

02. Who's your least favourite character in 1? (SPN)
I would very much liked to have seen S4 Ruby jump off a cliff. S3 Ruby was at least entertaining.

03. What's your favourite episode of 4? (Bones)
Oh man! I only just finished going through this show once - I haven't rewatched anything! Hmmmmmm... I'll have to say 2x09, Aliens in a Spaceship. Hodgins and Bones in grave peril, using their brains to save themselves! The team going out of their minds with frantic worry! Angela and Hodgins omg my heart! Truly an amazing episode.

04. What's your favourite season of 5? (Firefly)
Tragically, this only has one (half!) answer. :(

05. Who is your favourite ship in 3? (Buffy)
Angel and Buffy are one of those to-the-end-of-time loves, and no matter how much I adored other relationships on the show, nothing will ever get my heart like those two.

06. Who is your antiship in 2? (FNL)
Hmmm... Tyra and Cash. He was so terrible for her, ultimately.

07. How long have you watched 1? (SPN)
Since halfway through the first season. So that was... about 3 and a half years ago. Wow.

08. How did you become interested in 3? (Buffy)
Hmmm. Well, I was vaguely aware of it through internet osmosis when I was about a senior in high school. I heard that the series finale was airing, and meant to catch it out of curiosity (that's right, i wanted to watch the LAST EPISODE FIRST - I am an idiot), but I forgot until five minutes before it ended, so I just caught a glimpse and remember Buffy looking down a long empty road. I shrugged. But then, I think I started watching it in reruns? And I liked it a lot, so my sister bought me season 2 used for my birthday. Little did she know that she was starting an enormous obsession for both of us! I plowed through the rest of the show steadily after that, buying each season as I came to it. So fucking good.

09. Who's your favourite actor/actress in 4? (Bones)
I have to say TJ Thyne. I may be biased towards him because of Hodgepodge, but he seems very articulate, intelligent, and funny.

10. Which do you prefer: Show 1, 2 or 5? (SPN, FNL, Firefly)
Oh dear. What a cruel question - we were supposed to list five favorites! Now I'm supposed to choose a favorite of my favorites? Hrm. A couple of years ago this would have been a no brainer, but SPN has hurt me too much since then. I'm gonna have to go with Firefly, because, well... it's Firefly.

11. Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3? (SPN or Buffy)
This seems like a dumb question too, given that everyone will have seen all the episodes of their favorites, and ergo this question is decided by which show has more seasons. In this case, Buffy, obviously, though I've watched and rewatched tons and tons of episodes from BOTH of these shows. The total probably still stacks up in Buffy's favor though.

12. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be? (Bones)
Angela! Because then I'd get a Hodgins. And I wouldn't let him get away! Oh and she's fucking beautiful and charismatic and talented and smart. That certainly wouldn't hurt!

13. How would you kill off your favourite character in 1? (SPN)
Saving his baby brother. OH WAIT IT ALREADY HAPPENED. *hands*

14. Give a random quote from 1? (SPN)
"He's the only one that gets to call me that." - Sam, 2x03, Bloodlust. FAVORITE!!!

16. Would a 3/4 crossover work? (Buffy/Bones)
Ahahahahahaha. WELL, Buffy would take one look at Booth and say, "Hey, when did you become an FBI agent? And are those... wrinkles on your face? And why aren't you bursting into flames???" HILARITY. So I'm going to go with no on this one. Though it would be priceless. :D If it weren't for that snag, though, I think it would be awesome - Bones and co investigating a strange death in Sunnydale, CA, and eventually running into the gang who are doing their best to divert the forensic attention. It would be amazing!

17. Pair 2 characters in 1 that would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple. (SPN)
Ummmmmm. Does it get any more unlikely but strangely okay than Wincest? :P Other than that, I'd have to say... Ellen and Dean. Unlikely because of the baggage of John Winchester hovering, okay because UM HOT.

(This is not the question 18 you are looking for.)

19. Overall, which show has a better cast, 2 or 4? (FNL or Bones)
Hmmmmmmm. I think both groups of people are charming and funny and awesome, but I'm not terribly familiar with them. I'm gonna have to go with FNL, just because there are so MANY awesome people!

20. Which has better theme music, 3 or 5? (Buffy or Firefly)
Oooh, ouch! What a choice to have to make! The Buffy theme song is, in my opinion, one of the most fun things out there. I NEVER skip the theme song and always dance a little in my chair. Firefly, on the other hand, is classic and beautiful. I'll have to go with Firefly mostly because Joss wrote it and, again, it's FIREFLY.

I do so love TV! I'm in the process of deciding what to watch next. I feel SO BEREFT without any more Bones or Big Bang Theory to watch! I finished both in the same night, after months of devouring them together. It's strange - they're completely different shows, but my emotional focal point for both is the same. An oddly matched pair (a geek meets a sexy yet semi-awkward cool person) that is obviously magnetically attracted yet cannot seem to acknowledge it themselves. Both do a sort of yo-yo of requited and not. And it's VERY FRUSTRATING. But I love them both so much. (OMG PENNY GROW A SPINE!!!!!!!!)

I am going to continue with Freaks & Geeks, because it is all kinds of charming, but I need something else as well. Generation Kill? True Blood? Legend of the Seeker? How I Met Your Mother? Help, o wise and all-knowing flist! Tell me about characters I will love (without spoilers!), because that is my key to loving any show.

In other, sad TV news, Stargate: 90210 is made of a million kinds of fail. At this point, I'm wondering how the fuck these people ever gave us Atlantis. SGA was not close to perfect, but it was deeply charming and showed real heart sometimes. I'm wondering if that was truly a result of the cast and its glorious chemistry, because I'm seeing none of that in the SGU bits we've gotten. UGHHHHHH.

In other happier news, I'm LOVING Naomi Novik's His Majesty's Dragon. LOVE!!!!!! Will Laurence, come here and be my empathetic, elegant boyfriend right now!! I fell in love with him within two pages and he has only endeared himself to me further. It's fascinating living inside his head because he is such a product of his time, but lacks any sort of malice in his prejudices. For instance, when he's shocked and appalled by a female dragonrider wearing men's clothing, and muses that riding dragons must be very trying on her slight frame, he's not repugnant, simply a fascinating example of the mindset of that time. He has no hostility towards her, merely surprise and curiosity. I love himmmmmm somuch! And Temeraire, oh Temeraire! *draws a lot of hearts*

Now I'm going to watch last week's Leverage, which I somehow forgot about!

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER!!! Definitely! I love it SOOO MUCH. There's sort of moderate fail in portrayal of women but really no worse than on any other TV show (and certainly better than SG:90210 looks like it will be... there is not enough eyeroll in the world). But mostly Neil Patrick Harris is awesome and Jason Segel is also pretty awesome. And there are some pretty entertaining guest stars (like Elliot from Scrubs!) and lots and lots of Canada jokes.

What tv to watch? Well, I'm all about the happy, brightly colored shows these days. Since Pushing Daisies is now gone, I've become massively obsessed with Glee. That doesn't start until September, though.

I also have a "to watch" list with The Wire, Rome (really been meaning to see those), Breaking Bad, How I Met Your Mother, and Lost (possibly). Oh, and did you see Being Human? I'm really enjoying it on BBC America right now. :)

Freaks and Geeks is AWESOME! ♥

Did you ever upload season 2 of Big Bang Theory? You don't have to if you haven't, but if you have, I'd love to download and watch!

How I Met Your Mother is seriously awesome. *points at icon* I watch it a lot and it always makes me giggle. Also, do you watch Psych? That is also fabulous beyond all reason.

Oh, thank you for reminding me! I haven't yet, but I definitely will, since I now have all the files on my hard drive. Season 2 is, if possible, even more excellent than season 1! :D

I'm more willing to give HIMYM a try now that I've watched and loved a sitcom (before Big Bang, the only show of that genre I liked at all was Friends). And I've seen a couple episodes of Psych - I enjoyed it but I wasn't besotted. It's not high up on my list, anyway, I'm afraid!

Awesome! Thank you for uploading them! I really enjoyed season 1 and can't wait for season 2. :)

Definitely give HIMYM a go! It's okay if you don't like Psych. It has a very very odd sense of humour and I don't think everyone really gets it.

How is Friday Night Lights (since we're discussing tv shows)? I know you love it and it seems we have similar tastes in tv shows (Bones, Buffy, BBT, Merlin, Dollhouse, etc, etc) I'd like to know if I should try it!

Season 2 is even better....but at least you tried.

Did you watch Pushing Daisies, which someone else mentioned? Its canceled, but still a great show.

true blood! way, way sexy show and really interesting layered characters, especially in the second season. so far the second half of the second season is INTENSE. can't really say anything without giving it away though.

also flight of the conchords, which is about two wonderfully awkward new zealanders in new york that often burst into hilarious songs (see "business time" or "pencils in the wind" on youtube).
