I was itching to put Danny and Rusty on my journal, but I was angsting about the prospect of abandoning my darling boys (Winchesters and McShep). Solution? Rotating headers! \o/ I knew it would take me years to make full blown separate headers for each pairing, so I just decided for simple and elegant - pick a picture of each pairing and doll it up a bit. So that's what I've done!

There are five different headers: Sam/Dean, John/Rodney, Danny/Rusty, Kara/Lee, and John/Aeryn. Yummmmy! You may notice that the coloring varies a LOT :P I made the Danny/Rusty one first, and I loved how it turned out, clean and bright. But then the other pictures I chose, with the exception of Sam&Dean, had dark backgrounds and that same coloring wouldn't work. I stumbled on that gorgeous multicolored texture in my files (by peoplemachines) and loved it, so the rest became vibrant and colorful. I loved them all, so I did my best to come up with a color scheme that would fit! Black background was a given, but the inside I wanted to keep bright and lively, so I went with white with red and blue accents. Too much black would have been depressing!

New layouts always make me so excited :D You may remember I said a little while back I was going to switch to an SGA header - well, I never got around to it, and eventually I decided I didn't want to do THAT, so instead I made my first mixed-fandom header! \o/ It features McShep and the Winchester boys, and they are AWFULLY pretty together. Mmmph. I'm really really pleased with how the header came out, and the coloring's all bright and pretty, and and yay! The brushes on the header are by 77words and missm.paperlilies.com. In other news, I'm happy because I managed to get more than caught up with my homework for the week, even though I barely had any time to work while I was in Boston. AWESOME. I'm so proud of me, and this layout is... my present to me! :D

Only three more days until new, hilarious SPN! And I've only got 5 episodes left until I finish SGA! (Which is sad, but also fun. I love this show.) And... and... I'm in a really good mood right now! Which is awesome. Yay for good moods.

I needed something season 2 themed, and as soon as I saw the shot of the boys walking down the road I was like THAT'S IT. And it just spiralled from there :)

The images are thanks to the lovely monkiedude, who kindly put up with my exacting requests and delivered exactly what I needed in hi-res. Textures are from Tre-xtures and oxoniensis.

That text is something I've had lodged in my brain for a while, and I really wanted to use it... it's from T. S. Eliot's "Preludes," a bleak, stark little poem. This is the first stanza:

The winter evening settles down
With smell of steaks in passageways.
Six o'clock.
The burnt-out ends of smoky days.
And now a gusty shower wraps
The grimy scraps
Of withered leaves about your feet
And newspapers from vacant lots;
The showers beat
On broken blinds and chimney-pots,
And at the corner of the street
A lonely cab-horse steams and stamps.

And then the lighting of the lamps.

I think the line fits the boys perfectly, especially considering... well, if you're caught up you know, and the demon's MO.

I changed my journal title accordingly, and the subtitle is "dry bones can harm no one," which is from Eliot's "Waste Land". I also changed the title of my friends page - it's now "a thousand sordid images" (also from Preludes) which I think suits you dirty lot awfully well ;)

My darling candlesandcloth has been sadly sans internet for a few days, and while I was on the phone with her just now I promised to show her a few things.

1. The new header I made! It's Simon/River, and I'm so very very proud of it. I haven't put it up on my journal yet because that will require some time to tinker with colors and sidebar settings and such, so I'm just putting it in here for now.
