one more miracle

So I just watched Ocean's 13 for the first time in a while and ADLKFJDLSFSAFDLKN I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Ahem. It just gives me such unadulterated giddy glee! The plot is so cheeky and clever. I love how if you watch it a second time, you realize that they basically told you the surprise ending ahead of time, but they talk about it so vaguely that you don't realize! It's all just incredibly clever. My favorite bits that I noticed this time were: when the random guests were getting their payouts, one guy at the cash-in counter was the bouncer guy who "beat up" Danny in the first movie! HEE! And my other favorite bit was when they were talking about the Susan B. Anthony, one of the brothers asked Saul "Would you go through that for 10 million?" And he says "No. But I'd do it for 11!" And then at the end of the movie the payout is 11 million! HEEHEE. Oh boys, how so adorable?! <33333

And of course, of course, there's Danny and Rusty. Boys of my heart, omg. Whenever George is on screen, I get a little tingle; when Brad is, I get a BIG tingle; and when they're on together, well. Let's just say this movie inspired me to go hunting for some of my favorite Danny/Rusty fic. AHHHHH ILTHEM. I love how they sometimes speak like they're the same person, absolutely no space between where one leaves off and the other picks up. They're SUCH an old married couple, and it makes me gleeface.

I love revisiting old fannish flames, it makes me happy in my heart. :D

Tomorrow I'm going to visit my most favoritest cousins! Yay! I'll probably be up there Saturday night, but I have to come back some time pretty decent on Sunday so I can... go into the lab! Of course. I have to seed bacteria, seed yeast, and finish a peptide (maybe). Life is exciting! I also had a couple really interesting meetings with my professor today. He has this massive question he wants to answer, but he honestly doesn't know the best way to go about it! So we had two big brainstorming sessions, and I think I contributed at least somewhat. Every time I do I feel very pleased with myself. This whole period feels a little bit like a trial run, you know? No matter how much I want to join this lab, he also has to want to HAVE me, so I feel like I'm trying to prove that I can handle it every time we talk. And so far I think I've been doing pretty good with that! But anyway, with the project, we bounced around at least 5 different approaches today, and it's all kind of overwhelming. It will probably end up being a multipronged attack, but next week I'm going to try the simplest (and roughest) and see how things go. Science! How exciting!

I know I keep talking about it, but it honestly feels amazing to love going to work every day. I'm going to ride the buzz as long as it lasts! :D

"AGAIN?" you say? Well. Uh. Yes. *g* The thing is that I was getting sick of my basic customixed Flexible Squares schtick that I had going for, oh I don't know, two years? And someone linked to a great pre-coded layouts community called premade_ljs, so I went over there and poked around and immediately fell in love with this layout. It's got beautiful colors (I love that blueish green) and I love the whole scifi/techno feel to it, which is also just soft enough to be elegant and pretty.

I of course modified the header to have - take a wild guess! - Danny and Rusty. Ain't they pretty? There were some issues but I figured out how to modify the sidebar to my liking, and now it's perfect! Yay! I'm really really happy with this one :D

I can't seem to force myself to go to bed without some kind of closure. It's weird, I know, but it's all part of my own sleep-depriving procrastination tactics. Sometimes it's watching that moment I'm obsessing over one more time; sometimes it's reading the perfect little ficlet that will send me to bed smiling; sometimes it's wrapping up a fun conversation with a friend. None of those seem to be working tonight, so I'm going to make a post!

I watched Ocean's 11 about two and a half times today. Once straight, once with commentary, and then again to make caps of Danny and Rusty, and also just to rewatch some of their glorious scenes from the beginning. That poker scene, with the TV star kids? Oh my god. PERFECTION!

Then tonight I watched most of Fight Club. Want to know something funny? The Playstation that functions as a DVD player in our living room wouldn't play Fight Club because of the parental settings on the system! LOL. It played Flags of our Fathers (a horrifying and perfectly done movie, by the way) but not Fight Club. How silly.

But anyway, I just. BRAD! *flails a little bit* There's nothing that can be said about Fight Club that hasn't already been said 80 billion times, but there are just so many perfect lines, perfect moments, and watching when you know the twist is actually really cool, because you pay attention to all the subtle clues leading up to it. What an awesome, awesome movie. And did I mention - BRAD! *bites knuckles*

I'm thinking about going to see OotP in IMAX when it comes out! It's playing 45 minutes away, which really isn't that bad, and it's 11 bucks, which is only 2 dollars more than the normal theater - and for OOTP, totally worth it. I watched some TV spots for the movie last night that I'd missed, and OH MY GOD. I can't WAAAAIT. Remus!!!!! He's looking so gorgeous, and his voice, his weary gravelly voice... meep. Moony!! And Sirius!!! Oh my puppies. This movie is gonna make me flail for joy and then KILL ME. I can't wait :D

I really, really love the name Danny. And not just because of Danny Ocean :P I'm thinking I'm pretty much set on naming a future son of mine Daniel, after my father's father, and we will definitely be calling him Danny. Aw. Yay :) I love the name because it's very cute for a young boy, but it can also work well for a respectable man, if he has the right self-confidence and comfort in himself. You know? I don't know what I'm rambling about. I just love it.

Ummmm. I went shopping with Fei today, it was fun :) I was very restrained and only bought a pair of jean capris and a pretty brown shirt to go with my gorgeous flowery skirt. She got everything she needed to (bathing suit, flats, jean skirt) and so all in all it was a very successful morning at the mall. Yay!

I updated my sidebar, to make it more current. Removed and added some icons, and in the interests section I took out a couple of old ones and inserted Danny and Rusty, the Taylors (FNL), John and Aeryn, and made a new one for Rodney and John. Pretty people, whee!

Okay. That's enough of my ramblings. Off I go to bed, a half hour later than I intended! Pretty damn good! \o/

Night night!

So I downloaded Ocean's 12 last week, and there were some scenes I just couldn't not keep, but I didn't want to keep the whole 700 MB file! So I used Quicktime Pro to cut out some of the best Danny/Rusty moments and scenes for my endless rewatching pleasure. I offered to share them with rain_dances, and since they're up on sendspace already, I'm sharing them with y'all too!

The choices are kind of random, but the big important ones are here, plus some silly little moments that just make me giggle and squirm for joy.

The caveat is that they're all .mov files, so you'll need Quicktime to play them. I already tried converting them to wmv and avi - no dice. :( I hope that's okay for most of you!

Nineteen Plus Interest, 27 MB - The whole gang's back together, bitching as usual. This time it's about their little gang being called "Ocean's 11" - Danny looks fondly amused, Rusty just laughs. And also: "Hotels, man." ♥

Linus Wants In, 12 MB - Not Danny/Rusty, but too adorable not to love - Linus is overeager and wants to be one of the Big Boys. Rusty is just woken, and thus cranky, but he's all big eyed earnestness to Linus, barely concealing his amusement. So cute.

Lost In Translation, 22 MB - Danny and Rusty bring Linus to meet with a client. Hilarity ensues.

No Line of Sight, 17 MB - The plan hits a bit of a snag. Danny and Rusty go for a walk to clear their heads and admit to each other that life sucks when they're apart. Seriously.

Ahab with a Piggyback, 2 MB - Short but sweet. Rusty reads Danny's mind, completely baffling Linus.

10:45, We All Get Arrested, 6 MB - Rusty and Danny have one of their little pow-wows away from the flock. And Rusty makes an adorable offended noise.

She Has Your Phone?, 8 MB - Rusty screwed up and he knows it. Danny is Not Happy.

Wake Up Call, 13 MB - Danny gets a fake wake up call and shows up at Rusty's door in the middle of the night. Cute face-making and plastered-ness follows. Best scene of the entire movie - if you only download one clip, make it this one!

I may do the same thing with Ocean's 13, although to be honest there are less scenes that kill me with the slashy joy like these ones in Twelve, even though I liked the whole movie far better. If you desperately want a particular scene from Thirteen, let me know and I'll see what I can do!

I'm watching O Brother Where Art Thou right now, which is a delightfully ridiculous movie that manages to also be kind of disturbing. I am enjoying it greatly! George Clooney's eyebrows are a thing of wonder - they're all... arched! And vaguely evil looking! He's such a cutie pie. And bizarrely his character is reminding me strongly of mister Danny Ocean, with the grand scale theivery and the needing to always look suave and the leading of a motley crew. I adore, I adore a lot :D
