Eeee! Guys! Entertainment Weekly this week made me SO HAPPY! Guess what their "MUST WATCH of the Week" is?? That's right, you guessed it - SUPERNATURAL!! Eeeeeeee! I always flip immediately to the "What to Watch" section when I get an EW on a Supernatural week, and check Thursday, so I did that and they weren't there - but then I looked to the left and there were our gorgeous darling Winchesters, filling half the page! YAAAAY! *twirls in circles*

I don't have a scanner, though I'm sure if it isn't online already it will be soon, but here's the text of the blurb:

Cut for mild spoilers. No more than what you see in the promos. )

Eeeee! This episode sounds like SO MUCH FUN! And the review is so snarkily positive! YAAAAY WINCHESTERS!!!

The other awesome thing in this week's EW is the new column called "The Glutton," written by a humongous sci-fi geek. This week, he listed a bunch of things that qualify you as a sci-fi geek. The first one? "You're undoubtedly a Dorkus Maximus if you have ever substituted terms like "frak" (Battlestar Galactica) and "frell" (Farscape) for actual down-to-earth curse words. Your intergalactic potty mouth should be immediately rinsed out with soap, or at the very least rinsed out with something manly like... I don't know. What do manly people drink, Jack Daniels?" And I go... uhm, I said frell half an hour ago. *facepalm* HEE. I said frak for the longest time, but now that I'm devouring Farscape, it's turned automatically into frell. And it's not even intentional! It's just a lot more fun and less obscene than actually saying fuck, so it comes out more easily. Heeheehee... I'm gonna get Dorkus Maximus tattooed on my forehead.

In conclusion, I LOVE BEING A GEEK! :D

Another cool piece of mail I got was a letter congratulating me on my selection as a recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Award. Wow! I didn't really know what this meant, so I googled, and got this definition of Phi Beta Kappa: Leading academic honour society in the U.S., which draws its membership from college and university students. The oldest Greek-letter society in the U.S., it was founded in 1776 as a secret literary and philosophical society at the College of William and Mary. It became an honour society in the 19th century. Membership is now based on general scholarship, and new members are usually elected by Phi Beta Kappa faculty.

Huh! How nifty! I'm trying to look around online and see what the "scholarship award" itself means, because it seems to be different from just membership. There's no straightforward definition that I've found, but it seems to be given in different areas of study. So I guess I'd be getting it in Chemistry? Regardless, how cool! :D

*squeeflails* Omg!

Okay, two things.

One, [livejournal.com profile] ckll just posted scans of a new Jsquared interview!!. The article is called BLOOD BROTHERS and all it is is Jensen and Jared talking about their "spooky bond"!!!! It's SO adorable, and they say things like "Whenever we get the chance, we'll hang out." Jensen also says "He's got a girlfriend and I love her to death" - Susan I thought of you! Heehee. They are just the cutest things ever, omg.

Second, KANE HAS A NEW SONG! Eeeeeeee! It was the first email I opened when I woke up, and let me tell you, that was a NICE wakeup. Much nicer than being woken up from a beautiful dream, ARGH, stupid brain! ANYWAY. It's SO RIDICULOUSLY GOOD, and when this album comes out I'm going to combust. It's streaming on their MySpace: Go listen!

In TV news...

I finished SGA S2!! Thoughts to come later, when I don't have to leave for class in 10 minutes.

BSG - BLAAAARGH. And that's all I've got to say.

Except - *squeeflail*! This all is going to make my day from hell MUCH easier to bear. Yay for that.

Jsquared and SUPERNATURALLLLL!

Okay my flist is going crazy with all the posting, I CANNOT KEEP UP. So I decided to stop and make a post of my OWN, okay?

First of all, [livejournal.com profile] lost_witness found this freaking AWESOME interview with Kripke and Singer, and first let me repeat the quote she quoted. Kripke actually SAID THIS:

"And they really do love each other, they really did become brothers. I watch them at parties all the time. They're like, 'Hey, man,' watching each other and watching each other's back. You can't fake the camaraderie they have."

Um. Yeah, no words. He said "LOVE". HE DID. And the party thing! Who else thinks they're not-so-sneakily checking up on each other and sekritly communicating when they're going to sneak off to the bathroom together? \o/

And we believe that SOMEONE SHOULD WRITE JSQUARED FROM KRIPKE'S POV. For serious, y'all. I DOUBLE DARE YOU. Anyone that does gets my undying love and... cookies. DO IT FOR THE COOKIES. And the fangirls! *beams*

So the whole article is scanned HERE. It has two awesome new pictures!!! Totally go check it out. (There's a casting spoiler, and probably some vague S2 spoilers, but I haven't finished reading yet. I will ETA if there are big spoilers.)

And finally, a small reaction post with some of my thoughts:

SPN 2x01 In My Time of Dying )

In conclusion, best show in the history of ever.

A fierce bond...

"But the most important relationship on the show will continue to be the one between Sam and Dean, whose fights with creepy creatures paled in comparison to their battles with familial expectations, brotherly rivalries and the fierce bond that developed when Dean carried young Sammy out of their burning house all those years ago.

“The show lives, first and foremost, in the relationship between the two brothers,” Kripke said. “We have always said that this isn't a show about monsters; this is a show about family. We just feel there is an endless wellspring of stories about these two guys and their fights, their rivalries, their loves, their loyalties.” "

From an article found here, which is a nice read. Somewhat spoilery for S2.

*beams* That's what I'm talkin about!!! See girls?? Absolutely no reason to worry! Kripke's just as much a fan of the boys as we are.

And on that note (snagging a page from [livejournal.com profile] indilime's book)...

HAPPY WINCHESTER DAY!!!

Johnny Depp: Suburbanite?

Although Johnny Depp has been living mostly in France since 1998, the word on the quiet, tree-lined streets of tony, rural Weston, Connecticut, is that he’s discovered that some things function better back home. In 2003, Depp was quoted saying he didn’t want to raise his kids in the U.S.: “America is dumb, it’s like a dumb puppy . . . I’d like them [his children] to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out.” According to the town rumor mill, Weston’s top-ranked schools attracted Depp, his girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis, and their two kids into returning from their exile. He’s said to have paid close to $10 million for a big white traditional house on nine acres that he’s partly gutted and is doubling in size. Depp apparently fell in love with the town when he was visiting his friend Keith Richards, the inspiration for his campy, Oscar-nominated performance in Pirates of the Caribbean (Paul Newman and Christopher Walken also live in the area). Depp’s rep, Robin Baum, denied that he was becoming a suburbanite.

HAHA. That's a HALF HOUR from my house back home! I am TOTALLY going to stalk Johnny, MWAHAHA. ^_^ I know you're absolutely dying of jealousy neb ;)

I just read an article about Serenity wherein the author says she liked Serenity, really she did, but she feels that Joss performs better on the TV screen, and Serenity just wasn't Firefly-y enough. My reaction was quite a bit more positive, but she did have some very interesting things to say.

Spoilers for the movie )

You can find the article here.

Slash, analyzed by an expert!

...I’d like to let you all know how stupid I am. I was typing up this massive excerpt from that book, and I went to minimize the window, and instead I closed it. I effing closed it. And after all that hard work.. it’s even harder typing now than usual because I donated blood earlier and my arm is feeling sore and a bit weak.

So, because it’s so good and I really want to share with you all, I’m typing it again. But please PLEASE read this because then my repeated effort won’t be in vain!

Okay. So if you missed my last post, while I was at work yesterday (I catalog new books for my school library) I came across this book, and long story short, I found a section on slash fanfiction. It’s very cool and very clear, I like it a lot, so I’m sharing!

ETA: This is only one of two excerpts, because my arms are getting tired. I’ll post the other one later. But this one has most of the meat.

The book is called “Media Reception Stuides” by Janet Staiger.

I would just like to make very clear that I did not write this. It is all copyrighted information, and I am not laying any claim to it whatsoever.

E-mail to the author, re: A Kiss is Just a Kiss (boykissing and slash, and why we love it!)

Remember that article I linked to a little while back? If not, here it is again: A Kiss is Just a Kiss. You should definitely read it.

Based on a comment [livejournal.com profile] redbrickrose made, that the author doesn't really know fandom, I decided to send an email to her (the author) enlightening her about our little corner of the web. I hope I do us justice. I'm posting it here so you all can give me your opinions.

Boykissing, and then... more boykissing. Well sort of. SLASHINESS.

Two things.

One, here is an article that [livejournal.com profile] citizenjess linked to on her journal. It's about boykissing in movies (basically), and includes lovely quotes from Heath and Jake showing how they're awesome and fine with having to kiss another guy for a role, as opposed to actors in other films who have expressed disgust about it. It's very interesting and well worth a read for all us boykissing lovers (since pretty much all my flist is ^_^). Here: A Kiss is Just a Kiss

Two, [livejournal.com profile] nomeremuggle did this cool mutual challenge ficlet thingy, where people commented to her post, she gave them a challenge, they did it and then could challenge her to write something. The fics were around 50 to 200 words. So I jumped in headfirst and did it, even though I was terrified. I'm sharing both my ficlet and her response ^_^

Her challenge for me: Brian/Justin, 'lesson'
My response... )

My challenge for her: Remus/Sirius, 'bruises'
Her very sweet response... )
