I have passed the stage of "Oh my god life HATES me I want to curl up and DIE." and landed on "Oh life, you so FUNNY." *facepalm*
Yes. There is new drama.
I took the car into the nice guys at Pepboys. Really, very nice guys, very pleasant. Except! They can't fix my car. *slumps* They took out the whole ignition assembly only to conclude that they don't have the part they need. I have to call a Subaru dealer and get it ordered and hooboy that's gonna be expensive. I waited for an hour (which wasn't bad, I got further in reading my book) and they only charged 25 bucks. So it wasnt as bad as it could have been.
EXCEPT. (You saw that coming). I get home, park my car, and notice, hey, the parking lights are on! That's funny, they weren't before. I fiddle with the key, wondering if I left it in the wrong position, but no. Something the garage guys did messed it up so the parking lights are on all the time, even if I turn the light wand thingy to OFF. Wonderful.
So I call my dad, groaning and swearing (my side of the conversation got recorded accidentally by my new cell phone - more on that in a sec - and it was quite hilarious to listen to, really) and he's all *sigh* I guess you have to disconnect the battery. You need a wrench for that. And I'm all *SIGH* I don't HAVE a wrench! Maybe the plumber who's working in my house - more on THAT in a sec as well - will have one! Ok, bye daddy. So I hang up.
Then, some guy on his porch calls out "You know your parking lights are on, right?" and I call back "Yeah, actually, my key's stuck in the ignition!" and he's all "STUCK?" and I'm all "YUP!" *laughs* Longish story short, he suggested that I disconnect the battery as well and offered to go get a wrench, which he brought out and used to disconnect the battery. Thank goodness for random kind souls, for when I then walked home the plumber was gone, thus no wrench! So my car is currently completely immobile until I contact a dealer and arrange to get the part ordered.
GOOD TIMES.
*Betty is by no means permanent, just off the top of my head - I just thought this entry needed a snappy title.
Now, the OTHER things mentioned in the above story. Firstly, the plumber. I forget if I mentioned it here, but a week ago I noticed our basement was flooded with an inch of water - lovely! Plumber came, checked it out, concluded that there were cracked pipes in our walls and he'd need to take out some of our living room wall to get at them. So he came today and started doing just that. Right now there's a big hole in my wall (smaller than it was - he fixed some of it) and I have no idea if he's coming back to fix it. AWESOME.
Secondly, I got a new phone! This is fun and cool - it's a Razr, and I don't care if everyone and their sister has one, I think it's cute - BUT. I realized AS I was buying it that, hi, I'm going out of the country for 9 months! And I can't use my phone over there! *facepalm* I decided I'll probably give it to my dad to use during that time, since he doesn't have one and kinda sorta wants one occasionally, so he might as well have it, but still. D'oh. It was 100 bucks but I get a 50 dollar rebate, so not bad. I'm having fun playing with it. Danny and Rusty are already my wallpaper. DON'T JUDGE ME.
Speaking of the pretty boys, I saw Ocean's 13 again today! It was even more joyful this time around because I understood EVERYTHING. So many things just went over my head the first time, including Toulour because I hadn't even seen the second movie! *laughs* But yes, I was no longer confused at all and could just sit back and bask in the pretty. Ohhhh the pretty. That Oprah scene KILLS ME. Bwee :D
Going to market with my friends (including coworker, Dave) was fun! I bought some yummy things, including a steak that I was gonna have for dinner but got home way too late to cook so that's the menu for tomorrow night, and some fudge and fresh strawberries and bananas and and yum. And then the four of us went out to lunch at a creperie. It was a really good time, nice and relaxed, and it was a beautiful day.
So let's see. This is my day:
Fun morning with friends + Ocean's 13 - plumber tearing out walls - car cannot be fixed + new cell phone - increased car troubles = Um. A rollercoaster? I'm in a pretty good mood, so the sum can't be that bad. I have good things to balance out the terrible now, so that's making all the difference.
If you made it through this post, wow! *gives cookies*
