DISCLAIMER: The following is not to be taken as bragging or gloating, because none of ya'll had to go through this thing too - I'm just gleeful! /Disclaimer

GUYS. I ROCKED my Orgo test. (Organic chemistry, for those not following along at home) It was challenging and there are definitely a couple things I didn't get perfectly, but on the whole I felt very confident, and there was nothing that made me go "ummm WHAT?!" So THAT was good. The thing I was most worried about was the mixed spectra problems - there were two of em, and I NAILED them both. Which is such a relief. I think I pulled off a B+ again, and he curves upward at the end of the semester, so I'm getting something like an A in orgo! Eeeee! *twirls giddily*

However, my first comment above triggered a bit of curiosity on my part, so have a poll! Basically I'm curious to see what kinds of academic interests my flist has. And what kind of education you've had. Feel free to elaborate in the comments!

ETA: *facepalm* I just realized that CLEARLY you aren't all American, so you have different systems. Uhm. Fill it out best you can, and clarify in comments if you feel so inclined? This is all for curiosity's sake anyway, so it doesn't REALLY matter. But, uhm, I suck. Sorry!

in answer to the question 'If you're in college or have graduated, what is/was your major?' 'cause it was too long for the comment box...

I'm doing a joint bachelor of arts degree in English and American Literature with Comparative Literature Studies, a fancy way of saying I study books. Or at least pretend to study books. *guilty cough*

Our system is kind of different. I'm automatically doing a Master's, so I'm both in undergrad and grad school, since I haven't done my Bachelor's yet. Techinically, I guess, that makes me a Bachelor's student. Except for the part where I don't have to do a Bachelor's at all.

Woot! So glad the Orgo test went well. Well deserved I say!

As far as education goes. Here in the UK we're odd! We have compulsory education until we're 16. I then did 2 years at College to get my A-levels where I studied Geography, History, Psychology and English. Then I had 3 years at University to get my BA in Geography in the faculty of social sciences which I finished this year. I'm thinking of going back to get my MA next year but haven't decided yet, and that's another year.

You asked about chemistry after the school questions, and all I could think was, you know, ACTUAL chemistry. I was all, "Well it depends on what school they went to and how much core science Sam had to take..." *facepalm*

I want to go to grad school and get an MFA in Creative Writing with an emphasis in Poetry. When that will happen, who knows? But there you go :)

The school system is a little different here in Norway, but right now I'm in secondary school. Here, we have 3 schools, and the first one, primary school, (which is obligatory) is from 1st grade to the 10th grade. And then you go on to secondary school, which I'm in now, where you go for 3 or more years, all depending on what courses you're taking. After secondary school, you can go on to wherever you choose; university, or studying abroad or whatever. Right now, I'm waiting to get into the course I want to take, which is called "media and communications". (And I'll stop babbling now, lol.)

WELL. there was no choice for us people who are currently taking a year off of college (and plan to continue) and may perhaps like to go to grad school sometime in the future if they ever figure out what the hell they want to do.

SO thats my answer. ;P

I think Canada has the closest thing to the American school system, so I didn't have any trouble filling that poll out.

And I ticked all but "None because I am blind" for that last one. ;)

Well, I actually have no idea what's the difference between college and grad school, but I couldn't mark any of these cause I'm in the army right now. :D Lol, but anyway - I plan to go to the university at some point. :D

oh, i said i hadn't gone to grad school yet but i have a pretty good idea about where i want to go: Georgetown School of Foreign Service to study Intelligence & Security Studies (so it's like, CIA/NATO type stuff, so excited!) it's insanely hard to get into though...everyone becomes like a president, or a governor or something.

i heard Ria is at Georgetown right now actually...

Had some trouble filling out the poll since the school system over here is different. It's very close to [livejournal.com profile] cosmic's case though. I'll be doing a Master as well and it's undergrad and grad school in one, yay ;)
