I agree that there isn't a really good answer to this. I have to say, I don't find either of those suggestions particularly meaningful or amusing. "Roadies" has a lot of connotations to me, but none I want to associate with SPN. And "Hunters" seems a bit... pretentious, maybe? That's a bit strong, I suppose, but I just feel that if the characters in the show are called Hunters, the fans shouldn't adopt that name. "Browncoat" was different, it was something from the past in Firefly. Personally, I wouldn't like to be referred to as a Roadie or a Hunter.
Anyway, I think these sort of thing have to emerge naturally, and can't be forced. If nothing has developed for the SPN fandom so far, maybe there's a good reason for that.
