I LOVE KARA THRACE.

I watched three earlier episodes of BSG today - 2x06 thru 2x08 (Home Pts 1 and 2, Final Cut) - and I have decided my favorite part of the show was early/middle season 2. Because Kara and Lee were at their absolute finest! Some of my favorite scenes ever are in Home. When Kara gets back from Caprica and Lee kisses her! And then the scene in the locker room with the pyramid ball, and Kara's all "What was that middle part? You love me? You love me! No you can't take it back, there's no take backs. You love me. You love me." And it is possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. Then on Kobol they're all cute and buddy buddy. And when they're fighting the cylon toaster guys side by side? That's REALLY HOT and just wonderful. And in the tomb of Athena! Bill: "I thought that WAS the tomb of Athena." Kara (in loud stage whisper): "I THINK THAT WAS THE LOBBY." HEEEE! I always have to rewind that line like ten times. SHE'S SO CUTE. I just *flap flap flap* YES.

And in Final Cut - it just warms my heart to see them truly side by side, as Viper pilots, doing what they do best. They're consulting each other on problems instead of ripping each other's throats out! When there's an emergency, there they are, running to the hangar deck as though attached at the hip. And the towel incident! And the POETRY! "Can I be a suspect again? Please?" Oh my HEART.

I really, really, REALLY loved this show back then. It gave me great JOY as well as a lot of intellectual fodder to think on. Now it's more of an... exercise? I still love it, but it doesn't make me bounce around for days with squee. (Except for the finale. DUH. :D) I may have to consider buying season 2.0 (I only have one disc, that I burned when I had it from Netflix) because it's so frakking wonderful. ♥!

Oooooh, that was great to read about those scenes again. I miss thier interaction from s2.

I can understand what your saying about BSG being mroe of an excercise these days. It's got darker, it's a bit more depressing to watch but at the same time I am finding moments within this season that make me sit up and go 'OMG, I love this show!!" Like the finale, for example.

I wonder if we'll have any bouncy squee days follolwing s4 episodes.

I have to agree with you on the early-mid season two time period. I loved the show so much at that point...intellecutally, writing-wise, character-wise...I loved how it made me think/feel. I don't know if very many sci-fi shows have ever taken me to the levels of places BSG has. And I love/d me some Kara/Lee in all their torturing glory. Oh, that pyramid ball scene...that was love:)

The show is still fun now, and I think even at its weakest, it is still one of the best shows on TV. But yeah there were moments during season two when I looked at BSG...and said, could there be anything ever more brilliant?

And I too am hoping they do some fantastic stuff with Kara/Lee. Their connection is beyond the screwy marriages, sex, friendship, fears, their complicated and destructive history...they're soulmates in the best and worst ways, and I hope whatever is in store next season, the writers stay true to that.
