I have a strange attitude towards moments like that. Even as it rips at my heart and makes tears down my face, I acknowledge that it is a brave and brilliant storytelling move. I don't respect story tellers unless they're willing to allow for consequences. For example, the big death in Serenity was tragic and heartbreaking, but I love it for that very reason. So while Donna was infinitely tragic, I admire it as a storytelling move because of that. She will always live on in our hearts!
