Too much too soon, too little and now you're coming unglued

Tumblr is really obnoxiously addicting and I kiiind of wish I hadn't joined? BUT THERE'S SO MUCH PRETTY! I started following too many people though, and people reblog each other a lot so things get redundant, and AHHH TAKING OVER. So not okay. BUT. PRETTY. Also there's a lot of love out there for one Jacob Pitts which makes me everso happy. <3

It's also a really interesting venue in which to stretch my Photoshop muscles - I really, really love working on larger canvases, layering images and colors, so that's a whole lot of fun. I just made something I sort of love a whole lot, so I thought I'd pop over here and share it with Livejournal, my first and TRUE love. ♥

My first idea was just to layer two of the pretty parachute shots on one another, but then I came across the picture with the flames and went hmmmm... so I threw that on top and LOVED it. So I tweaked and textured and I'm really happy with the outcome. Paratroopers! ♥ Do let me know what you think! :)

Today I have been beyond unspeakably exhausted. It was really unpleasant actually. I barely made it alive through lab meeting. Note to self: GO TO BED instead of fucking around on the internet. This is an ongoing problem and my life would be MUCH BETTER if I actually managed to go to bed at a human hour instead of delaying it all the time. My average bedtime is 2 AM, and I wake up at 7 AM. Not really all that healthy! If you see me on Twitter at a stupid hour, yell at me? :)

Anyway, after lab we went out for drinks at happy hour to celebrate one dude getting a postdoc, one paper getting published, and the arrival of two new members of the lab (including me! :)). I hung around for a while and chatted, but did I mention I was tired? So I bowed out a little early and went to Borders, which was VERY fruitful. I bought Eugene Sledge's widely lauded book, With the Old Breed. From what newredshoes has said while reading it, I know this book is going to get me right in my heart. I'm both thrilled and a little nervous. (I still haven't watched last night's episode of The Pacific, so please don't spoil me!)

I also bought GUY GAVRIEL KAY'S NEW BOOK!!! :DDDD I've been following his blog a bit during the publishing process and EEE I am so excited. The summary looks intriguing and fascinating, as always. I CAN'T WAIT. I love him sfm. ♥

I keep falling in and out of love with tumblr... I can't seem to stick with it for long, so I have like 10 posts or something, but then spend hours browsing my dashboard/random tumbls to look at teh pretty *_*

I need to get Sledge's book!! But I'm SO scared of reading it. :O If the show breaks me completely and I half think of it as fiction, I can't imagine what reading about the real stuff will do to me :\

AHHHHH OMG GGK'S NEW BOOK IS OUT, THAT'S RIGHT. I NEED TO GET IT/THE NEW PENDERGAST BOOK/THE AMERICAN IDIOT OBC. Damn it. I was going to try to stay away from Borders but I've been waiting for GGK's book forever since there need to be more books with Asian protagonists. Needs moar monies. :(

That wallpaper is GORGEOUS! I really love the layering and the way the colors are kind of muted while the fire is burning bright.

I can't even keep up with lj, I don't know how I'd keep up with tumblr and all the pretty! Plus, I'd just end up reblogging everything.

I think if there was a Borders in my city (or anywhere in the country) I'd go broke. SO MANY BOOKS I WANT TO GET.

You should review them after you read them, so I can add them to my list. :DDD

Well *raises hand* I'm a good source for Band of Brothers screen caps! I posted several zips here and can upload anything else you want. Sorry it's not in a more convenient gallery format, but I just don't have the ability to do that. There's also my picspams, including the cinematography one. I don't know of other sources for those, unfortunately.

Generation Kill caps are posted wonderfully at After Action, in case you don't know about that.

Sledge's book is hailed as, like, THE BEST WAR MEMOIR EVER. So I'm anticipating both amazingness and total utter heartbreak. Gah. I'm sure it will be worth it though. I've already learned a lot of wonderful things just in the first chapter! He's a marvelous, honest writer.

Oooh, yay. I'll definitely take a look at those for future use. I was thinking it'd be one banner for GK, BoB, and the Pacific and some generic war ones. In moments like these I really wish I had better graphics making skills. Now off to make a Pacific banner.

Hey, I'd be willing to be your graphic artist for the other banners too - I do believe that shinier graphics are much more effective at pulling people in, and I'd love this to succeed! If you want, feel free to send me photos you'd like turned into banners. I love all three of these canons so it's not like it'd be a hardship. :D

Oh my goodness! What a request. I've honestly never modded anything bigger than a small icon community, so I'd have to be led by the hand a little bit.
