While I wouldn't want to be in Slytherin, we have seen some people (Slughorn in HBP as the latest example) who are in/associated with Slytherin who aren't really evil. I try to think of the average Slytherin as selfish, dishonest to a degree, and somewhat snake like or slimy, but not necessarily evil. Besides, if all Slytherins were completely evil why would Dumbledore allow the house to remain?
