I don't know anything about the schools you applied to, but are they notoriously difficult to get into? Cause from where I stand your academic and extracurricular record look pretty damn good to me and I can't imagine why they're waitlisting you.
(Uh, I don't actually know what waitlisting is, but I assume it's not good.)
