Collegey type things
Apr. 11th, 2006 10:05 pmSo I finally figured out my goddamn courses. It's not by any means perfect (8 AM!!! *dies*) but neither is it horrible. Here's what I'm taking.
Organic chemistry 1 ..............MWF 8-8:50, Lab F 12:30-4:20
BIO220: Principles of Physiology and Development..MWF 9-9:50, Lab Th 12:30-4:20
Africa - Idea/Place ......................MW 11-12:20
Studies in 20th century Literature................MW 2:30-3:50
So basically Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are INSANE and I'm going to want to kill myself. But note that I have ZERO classes on Tuesday, so I can use that to fill a good chunk of my work hours, and I have nothing Thursday morning. So.... I think this is viable. I am going to curse the world every time I wake up at 7 AM, but besides that it's okay.
You may notice that I don't have that Language in cinema course - that's what was interfering with my ability to be a preceptor next semester. So I ditched that and I'm now confirmed to be a preceptor. Which pays $500 for the semester AND counts as a credit. How kickass is that? The class is Monday nights, which I didn't really mind last semester, so... it's all good.
That chem test still sucked though.
We had our first event of Hunger and Homelessness week tonight, a showing of the documentary Dark Days, and we had a really good turnout! I was so pleased - I was afraid we'd get like 5 people or something, but it was more like 20! Yay.

Date: 2006-04-12 03:53 am (UTC)Oh, you sound so much like me! I wanted to be a scientist ever since I first thought about a career. You know how little kids are all "I want to be a doctor!" or an astronaut or firefighter. I wanted to be an astronomer. At ten years old.
Yeah, I don't know what happened. I never in a million years thought I would change my major. And I certainly NEVER thought it would be Film and Media. But it's something I've found a real niche in. I get a lot of people asking "What are you going to do with that?" and I honestly don't know. But the media industry is huge. There's got to be something out there for me.

Date: 2006-04-12 03:57 am (UTC)Unfortunately I go to a little liberal arts school, so the choices are pretty limited and conventional. Hm.

Date: 2006-04-12 04:05 am (UTC)My school's liberal arts (and quite tiny), too, but it just so happened that F+M became a new major as of this year, instead of just theater. It's still so new, there are only like five of us!
