So I just finished Tigana.

*SIGH*

For ONE thing, he leaves it with this massive cliffhanger, and I just kinda stared and went ".....BZUH?!" It comes completely out of the blue, in the middle of the warmfuzzy happy ending, just WHAM. The last sentence of the freaking book. And there's no sequel!! Very frustrating.

And besides that, the reunions I desperately wanted to happen DIDN'T. It was so frustrating because they were THIS CLOSE and no one knew the truth about who everyone was and ARGH. This is what I get for getting my heart set on two relationships in a book that isn't really about specific relationships. It's about the bigger, grander story. Which was, actually, gorgeous and majestic and sweeping and Kay is still a master storyteller. But I felt a little cheated because everything was just so HUGE that the people kind of got lost in the shuffle.

So, slightly let down. But still a magnificent book, and I'm going to start rereading the first one of his I ever read, because I LOVED it and it's been long enough that I don't remember any plot details, only that the end BROKE me. And in a less frustrating way than this one did.

okay, so that's no tigana for me. not yet, at least, i don't think i can handle that kind of book right now. is the other one you recced me "safer" (ie not frustrating and somewhat closed in itself)?
and maybe the author might write a sequel in the future, you never know... *hugs*

The one with the BEST ending, in my opinion, is the Sarantine Mosaic. It's two books, but just one fluid story, and the ending is beautiful and satisfying and marvelous. I'm trying to think about the endings of the other ones... ummm... yeah I don't really remember specifics about the other ones, unfortunately. But SM is my favorite of his, so I would definitely recommend that.

Your icon is gorgeous honey!
