Jul. 5th, 2007 10:01 amDave and Brandon aren't in at work today, because they came in yesterday instead, so I am LONELY and it is QUIET. I foresee a long day ahead *pouts* It's only 10! 10!! It feels like it should be at least 11. Wah. I hope my prof spends a lot of time in his office so I can keep myself company by reading fic. Although I'm going to have to run a column which is boring but takes all my attention.... blah.
I am amused by the fact that my professor has a playlist that starts with Avril Lavigne's "Sk8ter Boi". Seriously. So sometimes he'll be sitting at the computer and suddenly the distinctive guitar riff of a punk-pop anthem fill the lab, and I have to try so hard not to crack up every time. The playlist's called "alternative" and has things like Ben Folds Five, Coldplay, Green Day, and VITAMIN C on it. His music taste is rather hilarious.
I actually got a start on my paper! I was so mentally blocked on it, but I finally sat down AT HOME and worked, and that was so important. Now I can actually pretend I know what I'm talking about when I spout off things like the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation and the Heisenberg spin exchange rate of fixed and diffusible nitroxide probes! \o/ And I really do mean pretend - I can regurgitate stuff about those things, but I don't really understand the science behind them. I haven't taken physical chem yet! It's kind of frustrating :-/ But what I really needed was quiet time, by myself, to read and process the material. I guess. Anyway, I'm galvanized, and that's good, since I have to make a presentation in three weeks! *meep*
Um, this post is pointless and boring, so I'm going to stop it right here. *trundles off*
ETA: Great, so not only do I lack the people who keep me company, but I tried to pick the music and my professor turned it off :( Jeff Buckley is great, man! At least he turned on the Beatles as the replacement.
