So I'm just about evenly split on slash/het and male/female, respectively. Interesting! It really depends on the canon, whether I need a fannish reinterpretation of relationships to keep me engaged (see: SGA, HP) or if what canon gives is enough (BSG, QaF), or some combination of the two (SPN, Firefly). And characters... I am really drawn to those ass kicking chicks, but the guys are all OVER the map. You've got an abrasive genius, a sexy gay slut, an awkward yet brave doctor, a cocky yet compassionate demon hunter, and a withdrawn bookish teacher. I mean obviously the girls are different too, but not quite as extremely so. I guess I don't really like many shy and awkward girls. Hmmmm! But all of them sure do have brains and hearts to go with the ass-kicking, yes indeed. ♥

I started wondering the other night about how many TV shows I've seen in total. It seems like I've seen or know about practically every "fannish" TV show since the mid nineties, so I was wondering how many that was. This is the list I came up with - I don't know if there's any missing, but I just cross checked with the memories of a TV download comm and I don't think there are.

And I'm currently starting up with Doctor Who! So that's 18 shows I've seen almost the entirety of (not including several OTHER childhood faves - I just couldn't leave out BMW, I still enjoy it! hee) and if you counted up that number of hours, um. It would be... a lot. *g* So what do you think, any gaping holes in my fannish experience? I refuse to ever watch Smallville, don't see myself getting engaged in SG-1, and I don't do pure comedies ever (The Office, Scrubs) so there really isn't much left that I haven't seen. Um. That's kind of scary, haha.

I feel like that list is really predictable and lame and mainstream, lol. I'm really not a huge movie person. They're just too damn long, I rarely have the patience to really sit down and watch a whole movie. Sometimes a movie will hook me in the way TV does, with a relationship or character, and then I can rewatch it a bazillion times, but usually I just watch scenes or whatever. Yeah, I don't know. This is such a lame list *g*

Okay that's enough listing for tonight. I'm going to go read some Interview With The Vampire before I go to bed. Which is, by the way, the sexiest book ever, just like the movie, especially with visions of a pale Brad Pitt with luscious full lips and careful sharp consonants dancing in my head. Mmm.

If you're gonna watch "Doctor Who," you'll eventually need "Torchwood." (Which James Marsters is guest-starring on in the coming season, BTW)

But yay, we have...wow, actually, a lot of shows in common. I'm not surprised to see the Holy Trinity on there ("Buffy," "Angel," "Firefly") but "Dexter," "Heroes" and "Farscape" makes my fangirl heart go wheeee!

The sad thing is I think I have a lot of shows in common with everyone in fandom. It's very rare that I start watching a show that is generally fannishly well received and decide I don't like it. I'm easy like that. That or my friends list is smart :)

I did the whole thing backward and watched Torchwood first. I know, what? I couldn't resist the delicious allure of Captain Jack Harkness, mmm. But overall I'm actually enjoying Doctor Who more. That might be because it doesn't have any characters I HATE *coughOwenandGwencough* which is quite helpful. But yeah, I was weird and did it that way.

The Holy Trinity, hee! That's a new take on Joss as God, awesome :D

Wellllllll... I'd honestly have to take Faith and Starbuck over Aeyrn, sorry! But super hot indeed! Especially when she makes faces like this :D

Faith doesn't count, she's not in a sci-fi/action, she's in fantasy/horror! And...I don't actually watch "BSG." :-/ I wish I did, I hear good things, but it kind of scares me.

Your icon makes me go HEE! I love Jack + Doctor + Companion, in whatever incarnation. They should ditch Torchwood and keep Jack on DWho. With Ianto to get the coffee :D

I've only seen the first three episodes, currently! But I have seen all of Jack's episodes, both in S1 and S3, so I know a lot, plus with hearing people talk and whatnot, I'm quite spoiled.

I wouldn't mind "Torchwood" ending and Jack being a permanent fixture on "DW." That'd be nifty. I'm seeing lots of sex. ;-) (Also, while this won't make sense to you yet--tell me after you've seen the "DW" '06 Christmas Special, "The Runaway Bride," how you think Jack/Donna might go? ;-))

Hrm. So, to date, if I've got this right, you've seen "Rose," "The End of the World," "The Unquiet Dead," "The Empty Child," "The Doctor Dances," "Boomtown," "Bad Wolf," "The Parting of the Ways," "Utopia," "The Sound of Drums" and "The Last of the Time Lords." (Yes. I'm one of those fans.)

I approve. Some of my favorite episodes are in there! :-) In fact, all of my favorite Ninth Doctor eps are. A couple of my favorite Ten ones aren't, though--you need to see "The Christmas Invasion," "Tooth and Claw," "School Reunion," "The Girl In The Fireplace," "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit." Ohhhh, those rock my socks so much!

Well, with one of them, I don't know WHAT their problem was. They've just never invited him. Which weirded me out, because he faithfully uploaded every week, you'd think they'd want him back. The other, it's because she's "not active enough on LJ." They actually grilled me about how well I knew her.
