So it's 2 AM on Friday morning.

I've got my orgo final in 7 hours.

That's right, my fucking ORGANIC CHEMISTRY FINAL.

*hyperventilates*

Despite having studied pretty much nonstop for the past 10 hours, I still don't feel 100% sure about all of this. I'm not TOO worried in terms of my grade, because even if I got only a respectable grade (say, C or C+) I could still pull a B+ in the class, which is phenomenal for organic chemistry, so. But nevertheless, I HATE going into tests without being completely conversant in the material, and right now I only feel about 75% certain of myself. I'm going to go to sleep now, wake up at 7:30, study a bit more, have breakfast (because that's IMPORTANT, yo) and then... take this beast.

I'd appreciate any positive vibes sent my way tomorrow morning at 9 AM Eastern!

*meep*

You know, orgo is still the one class I have the biggest chip on my shoulder about not deserving the grade I got.

See, when the class started, our prof -- an old guy, but certified genius. He'd basically taught himself orgo -- told us to not worry about memorizing why things happened etc. Just memorize the formulas and that was all we needed to do. Seriously, I RECALL THIS CONVERSATION.

I tried it. I have to explain that I suck at memorization -- there's only one song that I know by heart, America the Beautiful, it took me forever to memorize any speech etc, and it's just something I can't do. Period. So of course, I failed and failed and failed plus had a few C's that kept from completely failing.

So, first semester final comes up. I know how I've been studying is kicking my ass and there's no hope of passing that way. But i've got an entire semester's worth of equations that I don't know. but I say to hell with it and decide to learn the HOW of as many as I can....somehow I manage to do a high enough score w/ the curve to pull a solid C in the course. The only C in my college career. Hell, I made a higher score in Calc III even though I'd flunked various calc classes in hs.

Needless to say, from then on I ignored what the guy said about how to study. I'm not that smart.

So you have my sympathy and thoughts today. Now go kick that test's ass for me.

Dude, that is the most horrifying thing I've ever heard! My professor is ALL about the WHY, the underlying mechanisms, the REASONS for what the hell goes on, so then it's really easy to apply those concepts to other situations. I LOVE him - he's brilliant and articulate and teaches this course just marvelously. I've ENJOYED this class, a lot. It's not really about memorization - it's about knowing *why*. I think if you had had my teacher you would have done much better. I'm sorry hon - he should go burn in a level of the special hell *nod nod*

*hugs* And the test went quite well, btw! \o/
