Oy, all you crazy Brits out there - question!

I'm filling out my Trinity application (OMG*squeeflail*sldkfjsldkfj) and it says there's a thing called a "Semester Start-up Programme" that lasts for FOUR WEEKS in September before the start of classes. Do any of you know what the heck that means/is/entails? (ETA: To clarify, it's optional. You can sign up for it or not as you choose.)

On a related note, the three terms at Trinity are called the Michaelmas, Hilary, and Trinity terms. Such pretty names! *loves*

(Can you tell I'm REALLY FUCKING EXCITED? Is it October yet???? Hee, I was asking that last year too, for Wincon! I guess Octobers agree with me! :D)

You're going to have a great time. I spent my Uni years in Scotland and loved every minute of it!

I CANT WAIT. IF YOU EVER COME ACROSS TO BRITAIN WE ARE MEETING UP. AND MAM HAS ALREADY SAID THAT YOURE WELCOME TO STAY WITH US IF YOU GET ANY FREE TIME. EEEEEEEEEEEEEE. *SMOOCH*

(By the by, I've no idea what the start up program is. Maybe it's jsut a time to get you settled in working in a "British" schooling system way, although I'm not sure that there's that much difference. Hm.)

I'm not sure what it is but if I were I'd do it, then you'll already have friends when classes start. Actually I know people at Trinity, I can ask them if you want.

I'm SO jealous, Trinity is so cool!

I'm guessing it's a settling-in sort of thing? Probably just by university, though, seeing as UCL doesn't have one that I know of. But I have no idea, really!

I am SO SAD that you are going to be coming to the UK after I've left. D: You will be missing me by mere months! D:

Sounds to me like a Freshers' Week (or, uh, Freshers' Month) - you settle in and go to parties and meet people and sign up for clubs and so on.

And eeee! you're coming to Britain! COME SEE ME!

The best part about being in Dublin will be Ryanair. Every weekend for less than US100 youll be able to fly to your favorite part of europe

Example:

Web fare Adult Reg Fare 0.01 EUR

Thu, 08 Feb 07
Flight FR 24
10:30 Depart Dublin (DUB)
12:55 Arrive Paris Beauvais (BVA)

Return trip is also 1 cent.

You just pay taxes (which are pricey, since this is europe after all)

Still a greta price.

Total Cost of Flight
42.23 EUR

Rountrip to paris for only 60US!

And no, its not a scam. I used them last spring break from Dublin to Nottingham.

Bonus: The best time to book is 2-4 weeks before. Thats when cheapest.
