That's a plant! - It... is?

It's snowing again! Goodness me. About two or three inches since this morning. It's very pretty, but since it's Sunday, there's no one doing anything about it on the paths, so walking to class tomorrow is going to be a joy :P And my car better not get trapped in again - I only got it out yesterday!
darksylvia - I went to see the Justin King Band! And they were AMAZING!! Thank you so much for the recommendation! Seriously, everyone, these guys are fantastic, but especially Justin King himself - he's *ridiculous* on a guitar, seriously. He plays this weird way where he's plucking at the strings only on the neck and it sounds so COOL. If you want to see a video of him doing it, go to THEIR WEBSITE and go to the media section. Fucking awesome, I swear. They also have a few songs that stream on the website. They played two of them last night, and they were so much more blood-pumping and intense live. They're amazing live, seriously. And it was this nice small, intimate venue so we were right there, and it was just... yeah. Awesome. And by the way, Justin King is HOT. No really. He looks totally different from the pictures on the website - his head is shaven now, just a half inch or so left, and he's smoldering. Holy guh. And guys, I swear to god he looked at me like 10 times while I was singing along to the songs I knew, and I went splodey. Seriously. Just a completely rockin good time, and having him to stare at rounded out the whole experience :D
Actually, here, I'll embed the video here. Watch it! He's awesome.
So that was a really fun night! There were three other acts too. The first was a young guy (he can't have been older than me) just playing acoustic guitar and singing. Layne and I were plotting to go backstage and seduce him afterwards, because he was so cute. A total emo boy, with floppy hair in his eyes, and his music sounded exactly like Dashboard Confessional. In fact, he did a cover of Hands Down! Hee. Very pleasant to listen to. Then there was a really fun band called The Secrecy. They had two girls playing violin, and one of them sang backup vocals, in addition to the usual guitar/bass/drums, so that was a unique touch, and they were very good. Then after Justin King was a band called Kingsfoil ("That's a plant!" says I. Layne and Rob look at me strangely. "It... is?" they say, eyeing me askance. "Um!" I stutter, "Maybe? No? I could be lying!" Then I came home and Wikied it - turns out Kingsfoil is indeed a plant....... in Lord of the Rings. It's another name for Athelas, a plant Aragorn uses to heal someone. And that, my friends, is why I am a ginormous geek.) which wasn't so awesome, so we left before they were done.
Then we went to Layne's to hang out for a while, and I had Jack and coke for the first time. How exciting! It was really yummy, actually. Mm mm. :D
I have been reading lots of awesome McShep fic \o/ And I just watched 1x03 Hide and Seek, in which John pushes Rodney off a balcony and they are generally twelve and I die of love. It amazes me how immediately they clicked. So. Much. Love. :D

Date: 2007-02-26 08:27 pm (UTC)I'm so GLAD I went! You are seriously awesome for bringing him to my attention. There weren't a *lot* of people there, although there was a whole second balcony for 21+ and I have no idea how big it was. But I'd say there were about... 30-40 people down on the level with me, and about 20 more watching around the balcony upstairs. It's not a big place - it was about half full. The crowd was kind of lame in terms of enthusiasm, but there were definitely some Justin King fans there. I liked the size - it was nice and intimate. Of COURSE I was a dumbass and didn't bring my camera *facepalm* Oops. Ah well. Do you have pictures that I could see by any chance? :) Oh and also, did you buy their new EP? I bought only the full album, not realizing that it's basically just Justin on guitar, not even any lyrics. It's very pretty, but I'd love some of the full band's music. If you had it to share with me, that would be awesome :)

I have no pictures :( This is tragic.
