I just watched the BSG season 1 episode "Act of Contrition." And God - I LOVE the first season of Battlestar. And to a certain extent the second season, especially the first half. It's much less depressing than the show has gotten. It's always been dark and unrelenting, but it also had a sense of humor. The people weren't nearly has hopeless and downtrodden. They still had spark, they still had the energy to banter and laugh and love. Kara and Lee's relationship in the first year and a half of this show is my favorite male-female relationship in... anything. Ever. I love every single second they are on screen together. I just watched a S1 Kara/Lee music video that I have loved for ages, and it brought me to tears - they are just so gorgeous together. BECAUSE they are so messed up, and they love each other in spite of it all. And Kara... oh, Kara. She's been so fucked up lately that my love for her, while still strong, was tempered by despair. But S1 Kara? I just love her, purely and truly. I need to rewatch more of S1, because this? This I love. Maybe I'm a wimp, but I like a bit of happyshiny with my gallons of angst, thankyouverymuch. Even when that happyshiny comes in the form of Kara and Lee popping each other in the face.

I miss them.

I agree on the favourite male-female couple. There were gorgeous. I'm an angst junky but even I'm craving the old happy... What vid, btw? I'm feeling the need to watch some vids.

Aeryn and John off Farscape may have them beat, but other than that, that's pretty true for me as well, at least early on. And Kara is in my top five favorite television characters ever. (But I hear you on that being tempered by despair as well. I started to really hurt for her instead of just having pure love).

Because they were so perfect.

And now people are like "Eww Lee/Kara" because they have been a bit annoying lately, but I cannot stop shipping them.

I don't do that. I just can't stop with my pairings. Even when I maybe should. I am stubbornly loyal like that.

That time when Lee and Kara punched each other in the face was the best thing ever. It was like porn or something. It was so hot.

They have taken the pairing some really obnoxious places. I never liked Dee - I could have liked her if they introduced her into Lee's radar much more subtly, but suddenly, at the height of the Kara/Lee awesomeness, it was like "Oh by the way! Dee is crushing on Lee and look, he crushes back! Surprise!" and I was SO MAD. So basically she's the source of all the ugliness between Lee and Kara. They would have been perfect together - explosive and dynamic, but perfect. I firmly believe they could have made it work. Did you see Lee's FACE in that scene in the hangar in this week's episode? He was practically glowing with his love for her. I just... THAT. That is what I see in them. And I never stopped seeing it.

The punches were particularly awesome because they were the result of Lee being INSANELY jealous that Kara slept with Baltar, and Kara feeling deeply guilty for doing so. Even though she was imagining Lee the whole time! *flappyhands* Gyah. Love love love.

Ahh OMG before we continue any further I should probably tell you that I haven't seen "Maelstrom" yet.

Anyway, so I haven't the scene in the hangar, but it sounds lovely. Now I can't wait to watch the episode even more.

The thing involving Lee/Dee that pissed me off the most, that made me angry with rage, was how they esentially killed Billy to get rid of him so that Dee was free to be with Lee.

ARghhhhhhhhhh. I wanted to kill someone.

I was like "OH my God she already fucking broke up with him, did you have to kill him too????"

Not to mention the fact that like you said, Lee/Dee came out of NOOOWHERE. Like, all of a sudden there was 'TENSION' when they were working out or whatever.

Yeah right.

And I oppose them on prinicple, because their names rhyme in a sickening way.
