Oh, wow.
I just got back from seeing Bridge to Terabithia. Please, all of you, go see this movie, or rent it at some point. It is a gorgeous, gorgeous film, lovingly adapted from one of my favorite childhood stories. If you know the book - the movie IS the book, with life breathed into every second of it. Because it's such a short story, they were able to keep virtually every detail intact, and it had the same emotional punch... you know what I mean. Gorgeous, breathtaking, beautiful.
The two child actors they got for the star roles are *marvelous*. The girl is Violet Beauregarde from the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the boy has been in Xathura, which I didn't see. But they both do a magnificent job, building a connection between their characters that squeezes my heart. It's truly a beautiful film, about the wild imagination of childhood, about freedom and joy. Everyone see it! Now! *shoos*
ETA: If you're having doubts because of the trailer, don't. I did too until a friend told me to see it. The trailer is *awful* and doesn't represent the movie at all. Trust me!
