OH MY GOD I LOVE TELEVISION.
AVIA! AVIA! COME FLAIL WITH ME!
Eeeeeeeeee! I unearthed this episode in a forgotten file on my computer and I'M SO GLAD! IT'S HILARIOUS!!!
The first thing that killed me was the shout out to Serenity. "Who would make a film out of a series that only lasted 3 episodes?" "It allegedly performed very well on DVD." OOOOMG *DIES* And what sells it is Teal'c's total deadpan. Comedy GOLD.
Another favorite moment was when Jack showed up, and Vala said "No one will see that coming!" and Daniel said "Nope, there'll be spoilers." and Sam added "Are you kidding? It'll be in the commercial!" HEEHEE. Oh god. They KILL me.
And then! OH THEN! The WEDDING! And Daniel says to Jack, "If she doesn't show up, they're going to think that you and I are..." and Jack looks puzzled while Daniel trails off, looking very uncomfortable. TEEHEEHEE. I know Jack/Daniel's a big slash ship, yes? Omg. I want an episode where Rodney and John send up their big gay love! *dies forever*
Vala is absolutely hilarious. I love how she tried to sell a SG-1 version of The Wizard of Oz. And also, at the beginning, when Cam said "jam-packed" and she says brightly "I love jam!" SHE'S SO CUTE.
Daniel is also generally made of AWESOME. *draws hearts around him* He's just so cute with the glasses and the scrunchy faces and ohmyheart. I love! I love a lot!
They all just seemed to have so much FUN with this episode. A really cute moment was when Daniel went "Excuse me - slightly ridiculous?" and Amanda Tapping obviously really laughed, and it was so cute. Nawwww *pinches their cheeks*
Ohhhhhhh - was SG-1 cancelled after 3 episodes and then revitalized? A lot of this last stuff is just going over my head since I don't know the show. But the rest of this episode - seriously, just gold. Gyah! So much love :D
I think... oh dear, I think I might have to get at least one season of this ridiculousness. Cause it is SO FUN, I love it. Avia, or anyone else - what season should I get? I don't want to commit to watching it all, cause hello, 9 seasons are EXPENSIVE, but I do want to at least see more. Is there ever a time where both Jack and Vala are regulars? I really love Jack. And also, Daniel is a must, so no time when he's ascended. Oh god I can't believe I'm saying this. Do you know there was a time when I was SURE I'd never get into that goofy sci-fi stuff? I only liked the "serious" sci-fi, like BSG or Firefly. All that Stargate nonsense? pfft. Child's play! Well, as it turns out... I am nothing but a big kid! Who woulda thunk it? *grins*

Date: 2007-03-17 05:56 am (UTC)Okay, I can't rec just one season because I managed to see all 10 seasons within a couple of months. I love it THIS MUCH! Please note that this is not an actual measurement of how much I love it because I can't make the text go any bigger. It should be really really REALLY huge
One ep that you HAVE to see is "Window Of Opportunity" - Season 4 Ep 6. One of the funniest episodes of any TV show EVER - and that include any comedies that I have seen. I taped it when it first appeared on Aussie TV and I rewatched it so much that the tape is slightly fuzzy. It's the original SG-1 team and it has Jack and Teal'c reliving the same day over and over and over and over again a la Groundhog Day. Comedy freakin' GOLD.
Alright, off the soapbox now and I gotta go and start the house cleaning I should have done four hours ago. :D

Heehee. Yes yes, go be responsible.
And that icon always makes me grin. I'm really pleased with how it came out, and jensen's just so durn CUTE! :D

Date: 2007-03-17 06:24 am (UTC)Puppet!Hammond: "Make it spin."
Puppet!Siler: "Spin? Sir... it doesn't spin."
Puppet!Hammond: "What? It HAS to spin! It's round! Spinning is so much cooler than not spinning. I'm the General and I want it to spin! Now!"
and
Sam in the shower: "Sir? Are you there?"
*long pause*
Invisible!Jack: "Nope."
I don't think I will ever be able to decide because they both fill me with too much glee!
And that icon is my most-used icon out of anything I have ever had. I LOVE IT LIKE BURNING! *cuddles icon*

Date: 2007-03-17 07:57 am (UTC):) Yeah, Jack/Daniel's the biggest slash pairing for SG-1 (and my personal favorite as well). There were actually other ways that they played out that scene which were talked about in an interview with RDA in TV Guide:
TV Guide: Anderson goes off to rehearse the big wedding scene. Sam (Amanda Tapping) is the bride, and Daniel (Michael Shanks) is the best man. No doubt saluting the fans who want Jack and Daniel to hook up, they do a couple of "Brokeback" takes. In one, Richard takes the bouquet out of Amanda's hands and gives it to Michael. In another, Richard takes Michael's hand at the altar, which causes the assembled cast and crew to erupt in applause. (You'll just have to watch to see what ends up on air.)
TV Guide: That was cute, the hand-holding with Michael.
Anderson: [Laughs] Over the years, it's been alluded to, so we did that just for us.
Is there ever a time where both Jack and Vala are regulars?
No, Vala was only in one episode of S8, less than half of S9, and then became a regular in S10. Jack was a regular only until S8 and he was only in a couple of minutes in the S8 episode that Vala was in and they didn't interact (or even meet) at all. The few episodes Jack has shown up in during S9 and 10, he either wasn't in the same scene(s) as Vala or else he barely responded to her.
I think... oh dear, I think I might have to get at least one season of this ridiculousness. Cause it is SO FUN, I love it.
LOL, well I'm not sure if I can help because even though SG-1 is one of my favorite top two shows, I don't really have a favorite season but rather favorite episodes in certain scenes and also a love for seasons in general if that makes sense. I'm a huge fan particularly of the original team (so Daniel, Jack, Teal'c, and Sam). Not that I don't enjoy Mitchell and Vala too but it'll always be the original four that I love the most.
I'd have to say that S1-5 are my favorite overall because that's when all four of them were in it together the most (so Daniel wasn't ascended and/or RDA wasn't yet cutting back on his time to be with his kid). I still liked S6-10, they just aren't my favorite. I have a special place for the very early seasons because the characters were so fresh faced and new to all of this. I love the team as a whole, though given that I'm a huge J/D slash fan, I also have a huge love for particular episodes that have a lot of Jack/Daniel interaction or at least certain special moments that stick out.
Not sure I could narrow it down to my favorite whole season but I'd say my favorite arc would be the end of S1 to the very beginning of S2 which consists of:
There But For the Grace of God (which is actually an AU and starts off the arc). Politics (a clip episode which is a format I don't really care for but it does tie in the with the arc, the beginning and towards the end in particular). Within The Serpent's Grasp (which is the S1 cliffhanger). The Serpent's Lair (which is the S2 premiere).
In any case, that's my favorite arc though your mileage may vary of course. You mentioned wanting a whole season recced but like I said, it's hard to narrow it down since while I have particular love for Seasons 1-5, I wouldn't say I love every episode either so I'm not sure how I would narrow it down in those 5 seasons. Plus I'm not positive exactly what you'd be looking for either. My favorites are usually either whole team episodes or ones with important and/or fun J/D moments but I couldn't guarantee that you'd feel the same.
I was probably no help at all just there. Ha, sorry about that. I do agree with others that Window of Opportunity is fun. I could throw out some more episode recs if I knew more what you're looking for (only funny and/or crack episodes? angst? no angst? action? all of the above? etc).

Date: 2007-03-17 03:19 pm (UTC)Oh my! I should have known better than to ask something like that! I know exactly what you mean with the favorite episodes and arcs rather than seasons. I get the feeling that I'd be totally head over heels for Jack/Daniel though, and not only because their names smushed together makes WHISKEY! *laughs* A friend has offered to burn some seasons, so I think I'm going to take her up on that - we'll see what I end up watching :)

Date: 2007-03-17 09:12 am (UTC)*flails with you*
OMG, where do I even *start* on this show? Expect a very long fangirlish squeeful ramble to follow. Ahem.
Daniel said "Nope, there'll be spoilers." and Sam added "Are you kidding? It'll be in the commercial!" HEEHEE. Oh god. They KILL me.
And, funny enough, it really WAS in the commercial.
Jack/Daniel is my SG-1 OTP (though in the last two seasons I've been LOVING Daniel/Vala, cause they're just too cute together, and a little bit of Daniel/Cameron), so obivously that wedding scene made me squee so hard I think my neighbours heard me. :D These two are not as slashy as John/Rodney (cause really, who is?) but OMG, I LOVE THEM. They have whole conversations of 'Jack'. 'Daniel'. 'Jaaaaaack'. 'Daaaaaniel'. It's very cute. :D
Vala is just MADE OF AWESOME. I think she's my favorite female character in the history of fandom, ever! And oh, Daniel, how I love thee.
Actually, most of this show is much more "serious" sci-fi than crack!sci-fi. :D There are actually very few crackish episodes, but in my opinion they're the best. And I have to agree with ummm, everyone here, when I say - WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY = BEST EPISODE EVER. There's also 'Urgo' (ep #3x16) which is hilarious and I think you should definitely watch, I've just watched it again last night and was reminded of its awesomeness.
Oh man, reccing one season? That's just about the hardest request ever. :D I've actually wanted to buy one of the seasons on DVD, and I just couldn't decide which season to buy! But ummm, if you want me to burn a few seasons for you on DVD, it's no problem, cause I have them all already and it's just a matter of making copies, really. :D And oh, if you want recs of good episode, I'd love to help. :D
You know in what silly backwards way *I* started watching SG-1? I've watched one or two episodes, and I thought it was pretty good, so I've asked one of my friends to just rec me some good episodes, I have absolutely NO intention of watching everything (cause dude, 10 FRIGGIN SEASONS, I had no time for that). But, after I've watched about 15 episodes I realized I just HAVE to start watching everything from the start RIGHT NOW, cause this show was just SO DAMN GOOD. All I could think about all day long at work ws coming home and watching more SG-1, I was slightly obsessed. :D
Lol, sorry, I warned you this might be a little long.

Date: 2007-03-17 03:25 pm (UTC)True, who IS slashier than McShep? I don't believe it is possible *g* But I think I would adore Jack/Daniel. So snarky! I can tell already! \o/
Oh gosh, if you burned some for me, that would be... um, awesome? I can't decide if I'd want specific good episodes, or a series of really good ones, or what! I mean, I might be like you, end up flailing and NEEDING to watch the entire thing. Um. But it's up to you how much you want to burn. I place myself in your hands! *g* Preferably a time when the Jack/Daniel is all over the place. From the commenter before you it seems like I'd prefer to watch some of the earlier seasons, yeah? The good old days, if you will? Vala awesome, yes, but I think I prefer Jack as the main character to Cameron.
So basically HOW AWESOME ARE YOU? *huggles like whoa!* You rock my socks, babygirl! And hey do you have a paypal account? I'd like to pay you back for the blank dvds and the shipping! If you don't, we'll figure out another way for me to pay you, kay?
Oh dear. The last thing I NEED is another show! *hands*
(Look at my completely hotass new Rodney icon. Mmmph. ARMS!)

Date: 2007-03-17 05:06 pm (UTC)Dude! You so don't need to pay my! These DVDs cost less than 50 cents! And I have STOCKS of them since I burn pretty much everything I watch to DVDs once the season is over and I need to free up space on my computer. My dad is providing me with an endless supply, really, don't worry about it. :D
Hmmm, maybe I'll burn you some of my favorite episodes (and those that are heavy on Jack/Daniel) and the first... two seasons, in case you want to try watching it from the top, yes?
ANYTHING FOR YOU, SWEETIE. <3
Oh dear. The last thing I NEED is another show! *hands*
EXACTLY what I thought when I started watching, but look at me now. I LOVE this show to death.
