I've decided to start giving new McShep names to the SGA episodes, in the following manner:
2x17 - formerly Coup D'Etat, now titled The One Where John and Rodney Wear Yellow Glasses and Carry Guns Together and It Is All Very Phallic
2x02 - formerly Intruders, now The One Where John and Rodney Gaze At Each Other As They Are About to Die Because They Want Their Last Sight To Be Each Other, and Also Where John Fries My Panties And Rodney's Boxers With His Spaceship Flying Competence
2x01 - The Seige Part III - The One Where Rodney Cries When He Finds Out John Is Alive After All. Seriously!
2x04 - Duet - The One Where Rodney Has A Girl In His Body So John Has An Awkward Conversation With Him In Which He Wants To Say "Let's Go Fuck In My Room, Okay?" But Can't Because Of Said Girl
2x16 - The Long Goodbye - The One Where Guy-In-John Says To Teyla "He Cares For You More Than You Know" And The Camera Shows Rodney's Reaction Of Hurt and Dismay When It Totally Doesn't Have To
Heehee!
I realize that I'm doing what I do with all ensemble shows - I watch them once through, enjoying and appreciating all the storylines. But then I latch on to a ship and start rewatching specifically for their moments. It happens with various speeds and orders, but that's the general idea! With Queer as Folk it was Brian/Justin; Battlestar Galactica, Kara/Lee; Firefly, Simon and River; Torchwood, Jack/Ianto. Supernatural doesn't count because every second on screen is my OTP *g* Which is why I've got every second of every episode practically committed to memory! :D
What I really love the most about John and Rodney's relationship is how John doesn't let Rodney's personality get to him. At all. I mean, I guess this is obvious, but basically John recognizes that Rodney's many personality flaws are not in any way personal attacks, so he just lets them roll off his back like so much rain water. He never tells Rodney to shut up unless there's something big at stake - any other time he either simply pokes fun at Rodney or smiles with fond amusement. John never crushes Rodney - in fact, he's his biggest believer. In turn, Rodney accepts John as an equal and more - he respects John, thoroughly. *squees quietly into fists* Ahem. I'm sorry. I was attempting to be all serious! Basically, they both have very unique personalities that cause them problems for different reasons... in essence, they're both loners that have found an unlikely matching puzzle piece in the other. They're a perfect example of opposites attract.
And I heart them like CRAZY *beams*
Look! New icon! John holds the gun, Rodney holds the lifesigns detector, and they fix every problem - TOGETHER! \o/

Like, I know how it LOOKS. But what did they REALLY mean to do by having his reaction shot right after that line????
Because honestly I can't come up with anything else that's not 'because he is so jealous because he is totally gay for him' that makes sense, because, how random was that????
