Veronica Mars is a marshmallow!
Oct. 29th, 2005 08:15 pmSo I just finished watching the first episode of Veronica Mars, yay! I really liked it a lot, and I'm excited to continue. Me and my friends decided to be good little girls and do some homework before we watch the next one :P We are so boring! But anyways, yes, thoughts!
First of all, the main thing that I am already spoiled for in this show is that Veronica and Logan get together (or at least kiss) and that's giving me a strange perspective, seeing as how they're not exactly on good terms right now. I do find Logan visually adorable (although he's an ass so far), and Logan is like my favorite guys name ever, so I do not object to him eventually becoming a positive character. Beyond that, however, I know pretty much nothing about the show. I knew the big question was "Who killed Lilly Kane?" but that's about it. And I'm glad!
So far, Veronica seems a bit too large for life. She has the answer for everything, and is everywhere at once. She doesn't seem like she's a high school girl at all. Then again, she's been through a lot for someone so young - murder of best friend, being drugged and raped, her mother skipping town, and her dad publicly losing his job - so I suppose that would make someone mature very rapidly. I will reserve any judgements on her for after further watching, because clearly you don't get a full sense of a character in the first episode.
Overall, I really liked it! characters are good, nice and colorful. Good writing, which of course I expected since everyone says that. I'm glad to finally be getting into this fandom, I'm sad I missed out on it the first time 'round. Another thing, the visual style is very, very cool - the colors are quite saturated, and it has a very nice warm feel to it, but cooler in some of the flashbacks. It just works really, really well.
Yay, new fandom :D Always exciting!
