I just rented and watched Interview With a Vampire. I really really do love this movie. It flows so gorgeously, and oh my the pretty! I think it's silly that Tom Cruise is listed first, because this is completely Brad's movie. How beautiful is he with his long hair, fierce eyes, full blood red lips, pale skin? He kept making me make little whimpery noises *g*

Kirsten Dunst blows my mind in this movie. She was, what, ten or something? And she plays this incredibly complex character with grace and force and devastating intelligence. It is a marvel. I wish she would play more juicy character roles now.

The entire movie is just so daring - it is contained by no boundaries, restrained by no taboos. It slinks from horrifyingly macabre to absurdly insane to gutwrenchingly emotional to deeply sexy with ease. The homoeroticisim is off the charts - both Lestat/Louis and Armande/Louis are in the text, and it is a thing of beauty. Have you seen how Louis declines Armande's offer? What a delicious tease! Mmmm.

I love Louis with his bleeding dead heart, his wide eyes at once evil and compassionate. Armande is wonderful as well, his quiet intensity, his aura of unfathomable age, the deadness in his eyes. And Lestat is entrancingly off the wall.

I always come away from this movie wanting to say things about it, to keep experiencing it, to wrap myself up in it and never leave. It's just so powerful and timeless. Mmm.

True story: when I was in high school and I went to see that movie in the theater, I passed out twice as a result of all the visceral blood suckage.

I'm less of a wuss now.

Awww. Blood sometimes kinda makes me all tingly and excited (in movies!). I think it really adds something when used right. I have a friend that passes out at the sight of a shaving cut though, so. It's just an aversion some people have, not really a wussy thing!

You know, my boyfriend at the time actually thought that our opening-night movie date was going to involve making out instead of watching the movie? HA.

I love the atmosphere of the movie, the soft swaying of the Spanish moss in the trees, the lanterns and the candles giving everything a soft glow. I remember when I saw it in the movies for the first time, Kirsten Dunst made my breath catch in my throat when she stormed into the room with her "...which one of you did it!" line.

I was never a big fan of Cruise as Lestat, as I read the books years before the movie came out, but he definitely made it work and made the character his own. The only thing I think kept putting me off (and I'm going by memory here, I may be mistaken) was Cruise's lack of an accent for Lestat.

But, yeah. Definitely one of my favorite vampire movies. My all time favorite? Icon love, of course. ;)

Mmm, yes, it is stunningly beautiful and haunting. And that entire scene, when she cuts off her hair and rages at them, it's incredibly mature and powerful in its anger. She amazes me.

Ah, I've actually never read the books. I probably should! But yeah he doesn't have much of an accent, at least not a consistent one. He's not my favorite part of the movie, but he certainly works as a foil for Brad's mournful Louis, and a playmate for the bloodlust filled Claudia. Mmm.

Eeeeer I'm afraid I'm going to get a GASP for this one, but what movie is that again? I know that's Kiefer Sutherland and I'm vaguely remembering this but... the name isn't coming to me. :-/

Ah...I guess I'm showing my age here. Hee! It's the Lost Boys. It's got Kiefer and the two Corey's.

This is one of my fave movies... ever. Oh how I loved Louis/Lestat. Such perfection. Though I do agree that Kirsten Dunst did a good job in the role though her character was so evil to Lestat, I can't stand Kirsten Dunst! lol
Oh Louis... *sighs*

You took the words right out of my brain. The film is excellent in just about every respect. Brad is like something out of a dream...he's able to completely embody that character and I feel for him intensely. And though I really don't like Tom Cruise, I love his Lestat. I don't know what it is. Maybe that's it. That unexplainable spark that I seem to think most of his roles are missing.
