If anyone feels like watching five seconds of Bden and Jwalk being precious (and who doesn't???) go HERE and it's the main video. They show up for a second at 2:50, and then at 3:31 they talk in unison and ummmm I want to SMISH them.

My 4.5 hours of sleep are finally kicking me in the ass. I fell asleep reading on my dad's bed (his room kinda doubles as a family room, yeah our house is eetle) but he had to wake me up so HE could go to bed, and now I'm all jittery and ugh. Bed soon.

I just watched MCR's video for Helena on YouTube again, and it makes me honest to god cry, full on tears. It's so passionate and grief-laden and intense and beautifully done.

I have a to do list over the next week (!!!!! OH MY GOD SO SOON) or so that's making me cringe and not want to do ANYTHING. Has anyone packed for something like this before? Going far far away on a plane for a very long time? Have any tips in terms of saving space, where to start? ACK. I can't handle this >.

It sounds kinda bizarre, but if you can fold your clothes and then pack them into the largish zip-lock bags, it's pretty easy to squish the air out of them and seal them that way. It actually takes up quite a bit less space than rolling them (at least for me), with the added plus of being able to rifle through your bag(s) without having to struggle too much with repacking everything - if it's already in nice little ziplock packets, you just toss it all back in and you're good to go.

Since you're going to be gone for so long, it might even be worth it to grab some of those spacesaver whatever larger bags at some place like Linens and Things, where you pack the items and then vaccuum out the air.

That, and just leave behind anything you're not going to use, or have it shipped out. Airline baggage limits aside, try to limit yourself to what you can actually carry on your own, because that makes things a lot easier in case of flight delays or grabbing a taxi or taking the metro (whatever your plans may include).

And I know that's a lot of random commentary from someone you don't really know, but I've done two cross-country trips in the past three weeks, so I've definitely been in your shoes (even if not quite as long-term). Good luck!

Oh the ziplock thing is a cool idea, but I've actually already bought a couple boxes of those space saver bags, haha. I haven't tried them out yet but I hope they're gonna help a lot! That's a really good point that you can rifle through without messing everything up.

Thanks for all the advice, doesn't matter what quarter they come from, any words of wisdom are welcome at this point! :)

I'd actually have gone with the space saver bags myself if I weren't so cheap - let me know how they work for you! (In all the free time you'll be having over the next little bit . . . riiight.)

Yeah, security can be kind of extreme these days, so being able to pull everything out and stick it back in on short notice can be all sorts of helpful. Hopefully you won't have to deal with that, but if you do, it's a lifesaver.
