Guuuuys! *flailyhands* I LOVE my roommates! No lie, I seriously adore them.
(I HAVE INTERNETS RIGHT NOW. I'm mooching off that random network again, and it hasn't kicked me off yet! *crosses fingers*)
So last night we were invited to have dinner at the apartment where the other Butler students are living in this building (Butler is the program running this housing - I'm not studying through Butler, but I ended up in their housing). In the apartment are two girls and a guy - the two girls have already become extremely cliquey, and they're really pretty much obnoxious. But we didn't want to be rude so we were like "suuure!" So we went and it was a bit awkward, whatever. The four girls who are living in another building were there too. So finally I've met everyone in the Butler program. There's a girl, Judy, who's also studying chemistry so we geeked out for a while. It's always fun to have someone who actually knows what I mean by "running a column" or "NMR" and etc etc.
We got the rundown on our apartments by the Butler guy, Martin, who told us stuff like how to use the oven and the water heater and the room heaters. He talked a lotttt, so by the time he was done it was like 11 PM. But we really wanted to go out, and it was Thursday which is the late night in Dublin - everything's open much later, like bars and pubs and whatever. So we went wandering. It was the whole group of us, 11 people, which was a bit much. We went to The Stag's Head bar but it was SO CROWDED, omg. Somehow we managed to lose Judy while we were making our way through and then back out of the bar, so we waited around and tried to call her and look for her, then she wandered back from a completely different direction looking a bit dazed. I think she was completely freaked out by the bar :( That was really bizarre, and she went home shortly after, I hope she's okay.
So the obnoxious girls wanted to go find a club on the Temple Bar and go dancing. And we were like "umm. no?". And right next to the Stag's Head there was this adorable little bar, with some guy playing The Beatles on an acoustic guitar, and it looked amazing so we were like, uh, you go ahead, we'll go in here! So me, my three roommates, and Zach (the lone guy, who's pretty cool) went into The Dame Tavern and got some pints and hung about chatting and basically it was a really awesome, warm, friendly place. I had a pint of Bulmer's, an Irish beer which is fantaaastic.
Then the place looked like it was closing down, so we wandered out in search of somewhere else. We were having so much fun, a little bit tipsy, just laughing and chatting, and Kate told me about her boyfriend, and we talked about music and random things and it was just wonderful. We wandered down Grafton Street, a main shopping strip by Trinity, and we found this bar called Bruxelles, and there was this room downstairs which wasn't too crowded, and we got more pints and sat down and just hung out and it was so much fun! (Side note! The guidebook describes Bruxelles thusly: "the Bruxelles delights in extremely loud rock music. It's a raucous place, cheerful and full of character." aka, YES. It was AMAZING.) Megan and I went to the bathroom and met these three girls randomly, two of whom said they'd gone to Trinity. They said they wanted to buy us shots as a welcome to Dublin, so they got shots of sambuca and counted down in... some language, and we tossed them back and wow, it was really good! I only coughed a bit, but that's mostly because I'm still sick, dammit. That shot pushed me over the edge from tipsy into really, really drunk, which was kind of awesome, haha. Shortly after we headed home and I collapsed face first into bed and damn, that was an amazing night, no lie.
So let's back up a little bit. My roommates are: Megan, Kate, and Katelyn. I'm sharing a bedroom with Katelyn. Megan is an absolute sweetheart, quietspoken and nice and I really like her a lot. Kate is blunt and talkative, but she's also really sweet, especially now that I'm getting to know her. We totally bonded last night. And Katelyn is a bit of a geek, and quite loud, but in a good way - I really like her too. Last night we all got so mushy and effusive in our inebriated state. Megan declared at one point that she was really glad I was living with them, and it made me so happy, honestly. I think we got REALLY lucky with the rooming, because I really don't like most of the other kids on the program too terribly much. I think we're gonna have an awesome year together! YAY!
Haha, wow, RAMBLING.
OH MY GOD YOU GUYS. I JUST REMEMBERED. JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS LIVES IN MY BUILDING. That's right, JONATHAN FUCKING RHYS MEYERS. He has the penthouse suite at the top and sldkfjgsldkjflsdkfjlsdkfjsdf. I found this out while quite drunk last night, and there was a LOT of high pitched noises being made. JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS. BRIAN SLADE. UPSTAIRS. ALDFSKLSDJFS.
This is actually not that surprising because the other thing I found out last night was that the apartments for this building? Sell for eight hundred thousand dollars. EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND. Jesus christ. I mean. They're really new apartments smack in the middle of the Dublin city centre, but damn. That's insane, seriously. And we get to live here! !!!!
JONATHAN RHYS MEYERS. *dies*

Living room, with two squishy couches and good sized dining table

Kitchen view the first. The yellow isn't that obnoxious in person!

Kitchen view the second. I really like the wood cupboards, and there's wood over the refrigerator and dishwasher, which is kind of awesome.

Bathroom, complete with excellent shower.

Bedroom. A wee bit messy already! It's actually a lot bigger than this picture makes it look. I'm quite happy with it, except for my tiny closet. Downside: NO POSTERS ALLOWED. *sniffles* This makes me so sad, you guys.

The view out our window. We live in a very safe, quiet little area, and I kind of love it.

Rooooomies! From left to right: Zach (actually not a roomie. He's the only guy in the Butler program, poor thing, and his roommates are the horrid girls), Megan, Kate, and Katelyn. Hearts! This is at Bruxelles, the second bar.

Completely doofy picture of me.

Wandering Grafton Street.

The bar of the Dame Tavern.

A random pretty shot of the moon behind some clouds.
My roommates have actually all left for the weekend. They have a homestay thing organized by Butler, so I'm left here all on my lonesome *tear* It's fine though, since the internet's working right now, and tomorrow I'm going to
glamorousnymph's best friend's birthday party in Wexford, and I'm sure I can entertain myself otherwise.
ETA: I forgot - I found out that Tom McRae is playing down the STREET from me, seriously. In November. And I really want to go but I don't know anyone that knows him! I should totally go anyway, Y/Y? Tickets are only 19 Euros! TOM MCRAE! I love him.
If you made it through this post, you get CAKE. Because, honestly. SORRY!
(I am so happy to be happy.)

Your roomies seem very cool. I'm glad you lucked out.
The moon was pretty here, last night, too.
NMR! I LOVE NMR. IT IS THE COOLEST THING EVER. I got the NMR question right on my Orgo exam! Most of it, anyway, other than not being able to count carbons when I'm drawing bond-line notation, apparently. HECK YES I WIN.
