I just got back from seeing "Across the Universe". It was INCREDIBLE. My mind is completely and thoroughly blown. It was so gorgeous and moving and epic and beautiful and lovely and and and. It made me weep profusely several times! Which, to be fair, many Beatles songs can do ANYWAY, but when paired with a wonderful visual tale of love and loss and rebellion and tragedy and morality and freedom and friendship... I was just a goner. An absolute goner.

The music was fantastic. I loved everyone's voices, they felt very real and raw and were incredibly moving. The movie was very true to the sound of the songs, while bringing something new to them at the same time, and it really got me in the gut.

Jim Sturgess is my new boyfriend. Adlskfjlsdkf. He's beautiful, in a shaggy, doe eyed, stubbled little English boy kind of way. AKA IN THE BEST WAY. He actually made my toes curl several times with his voice, oh oh. His voice. Simple and heartfelt and absolutely lovely. I am crushing so, so hard guys. This is his big break on American screens, and now he's going to be in three huge upcoming movies with gigantic names like Scarlett Johannsson and Lawrence Fishburne and many others. Pretty awesome, and I'm excited to see more of him! *grabbyhands*

Evan Rachel Wood was also marvelous. I really like her acting, it feels very natural and real. She also has a lovely voice.

I know I'm so far behind on this and lots of you had seen it already, but I just had to say all that. It was WONDERFUL, and I want to see it again, and it will definitely, DEFINITELY be something I'm buying on DVD.

Does anyone have the soundtrack??? I really, really want to listen to all the music on repeat for like the next year. I have been spending far too much money lately though, so I would reeeeally appreciate if someone could hook me up! (ETA: Gotten! YAY! Thank you to everyone who offered!) (On a side note, I noticed that you cannot buy The Beatles on iTunes o.o What the hell is THAT about??) (On another side note, if anyone has Rubber Soul or Magical Mystery Tour, I'd love to have those too - my Beatles collection on here is woefully incomplete!)

*sighs happily* I love good movies. I went to see it in a three screen theater just off campus, and the screen itself was GIGANTIC! There was only one person there besides me and my friend. It was a really, really great experience.

The Beatles not being on iTunes thing is because of the (possibly still ongoing) dustup between Apple Computer and Apple Music (aka the Beatles back catalog) over who gets to claim the name. There was a lot of speculation prior to MacWorld Expo this year that one of the big announcements was going to be that it had been worked out or whatever, but then we got the iPod Touch and cheaper iPhones instead, so. *hands*

And I have the thing -- the deluxe version, with all the songs -- but since I got it off, you guessed it, iTunes, to upload I'mma hafta burn it to a cd and rip that first, so I think it might have to wait for the weekend. Remind me then, if no one else has it, would you?

So far, excellent! But I've only listened to like three or four songs, because I keep going back to, um. Misery Business. Which has just rocketed up past 7 Weeks and Hum Hallelujah on my most-listened-to list (but is not anywhere near G.I.N.A.S.F.S., with listenings approaching triple digits. *blush*)

Dude, I've listened to Thnks Fr Th Mmrs 124 times and Thriller 122 times. All of Infinity on High is in the eighties or above, it's kind of ridiculous. Looove <333

God, I loved Across the Universe so so much.

I don't have the soundtrack to the movie(I really really loved it, and thought the actors did GREAT jobs with the songs, but if I want to hear 'I am the Walrus' outside the movie, I'd rather hear Lennon than Bono), but I have my collection of my favorite Beatles music on my music directory.

Next time you're on AIM, I can give you a user name and password, and you can DL the music there? :B

(It's only PW protected because there are about ten people on it, with their entire music collections up, so I don't want hassle from the RIAA for running it >>)

I saw it myself last Friday, and, um....absolutely hated it, sorry D:. But that's just because it seems I'm destined to forever be woefully contrary :p

I will, however, emphatically agree with you about Jim Sturgess. He was fantastic, and his singing voice was so much like Ewan McGregor's that it gave me chills. SO GOOD *toes curl* And the music itself made me happy, since The Beatles are just...UGH. SO MUCH LOVE. ♥

I've got the soundtrack too, if you can't manage to find it anywhere else :)

I'm glad it was good! I really, really want to go see it but I'm in rural Ohio. I don't think it's playing anywhere I can get to. I'll probably get it On Demand (or whatever the direcTV equivalent is) when I go home for Thnksgiving. Yay being in the middle of nowhere! Yay, good movies!

Augh I have to see that movie! I remember the first time I saw the commercial on TV I squealed. I love the Beatles, and so does my best friend, and the next day we were both so excited. I can't wait, especially after hearing this from you. I'm not a huge fan of one musical, I just honestly love them all, and any movie with a lot of music in it, for whatever reason? I'm definitely going to love it, even if it's just for the music, so this should be good.

JEAAAALLLOUUUUSSSSSS. I've been waiting for Across The Universe to come out all freaking summer -- no, since I first HEARD of it some time last year, and it just so turned out that we're not even getting it in theatres here. x_x I PROTEST!

Let me know if you still need the soundtrack, I can upload it for you. I think I may have even downloaded the Deluxe/Limited Edition(?) soundtrack as well. I haven't checked it out yet cause I was holding off till I saw the movie, but heaven knows when that will be, so I'll have to have a listen. Anyway yeah, let me know if you need it uploaded!
