Nextly, I have been enjoying this Internet Archive Wayback Machine a whole lot. Going back through MCR's archives, I found a couple fun gems!

Gem the first: Injury inventories for each of the bandmembers. And as far as I can tell, they're fact! And rather hilarious - our boys, honestly. Frankie has injured not one, but TWO of his bandmates. And those are just the occasions they chose to list. These were posted on the site in 2004.

2) Large gash to the head (see Fig D) caused by getting cracked in the head with Frankie's guitar, it wasn't the first time it happened...I'm sure it won't be the last

Gem the second: The first (and as far as I could find, only) entry of a recording diary for Bullets. Written by Gee, it's really quite beautiful. And I love how he keeps mentioning Mikey - he really loves that kid.

Entry #1 Vampires Will Never Hurt You

The whole day I was more than a little nervous about doing my vocals. We had done a version of Vampires in our rehearsal studio similar to how we recorded the attic demo, "Dreams About Stabbing And Or Being Stabbed." The vocals on the demo came out terrible and sounded nothing like they did when we play the song live. We began to wonder if maybe I just come out bad on recordings. I've heard stories about bands that were solely live bands, and didn't translate well when recorded.

The day came to record and we took the drive up to Nada in upstate NY. As soon as we stepped out of the Pencey Prep van, I felt at ease. It had just rained and everything was gray and damp. The studio was on a dead-end street and there was this nice little house that didn't seem to fit its surroundings. We started laying down drum tracks and John brought to our attention that the tempo for the song was 187. We're a little superstitious and took this as an omen. We then layed down guitar tracks and everything sounded great, but I started to get more nervous thinking I was going to botch up the whole recording by sounding like a little girl or coming off flat. Mike layed over his bass tracks in record time and then we broke down the drums, getting ready to do vocals. We started moving the drums out to the van and I was surprised to see what it looked like outside. The sky had become dark blue and jet black and the wind was so strong we thought Mikey was going to blow away. Trees were whipping around and a huge storm was rolling in, but it was strangely warm and felt very comforting. Then I knew my vocals were going to come out just the way I wanted, I could feel this weird excitement. Everything felt charged with energy. I then went into the recording room and got ready. Alex came in and gave me a hug for good luck - then he punched me in the jaw. The rest is history. -g

Oh. I just want to hug him.

Yay! So I got your card last night (thank youuuu... it was lovely and I giggled a lot at the diethyl ether comment, although I'm jealous that you apparently got to use Bunsen burners in orgo lab, because we don't-- Kenyon has kind of a history of having really bad fires and now they're all paranoid, so we just use hot plates, which is sad, because we used Bunsen burners all the time in high school and I miss it) and I saw the pictures of your hair in the last post and it is adorable and you are lovely. I was going to comment in the relevant post but then you posted two more entries so I just commented to this one, and I'm glad I did, because the thing about the boys' injuries is really funny. It's kind of strange how affectionate I feel towards the MCR (and P!atD and FOB, if I'm being honest) boys, despite basically not listening to their music.

I saw 5) mono and wished VERY HARD to see mono show up in Gerard's list too! But alas, they can only be so slashy.
