I love listening to live performances, often more than album versions. There must be other people out there who feel the same, so I've decided to share a little project I've been working on! I've ripped the audio from various live performances by My Chemical Romance, all (except one) professionally recorded for TV or other purposes so the audio's quite decent. There are all the usual unpredictabilities of live performances - Gerard getting the audience to sing a line, messing with the melody a bit, adlibbing here and there - but I think that's what makes live recordings so much fun.

So without further ado, I present...

ETA: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lord_spamulon for noticing, I forgot to include Under Pressure! Here's a link for that: Under Pressure. Sorry!

Key to Locations and Videos
Note: I could only find some of the videos again, so those are linked. The ones I downloaded at The Immortality Project are linked there.
  • Jersey - Starland Ballroom, New Jersey, 12/30/04. This is that amazing night that most of the LOTMS DVD live performances are from. Helena. To The End. Venom.
  • Download - Download Festival 2005, Donington Park, England. GOY/OLOS.
  • MTV2 - Just a couple random MTV2 performances. No idea about dates. Under Pressure.
  • MTV - A set of in studio live performances they did for MTV. They're all pretty fabulous. I'm Not Okay
  • Hove - Hove Festival in Norway, June 2007. Kind of crappy quality, but it's the only decent live version of Jetset I've seen. Can't seem to find where I downloaded it though :(
  • Hellfest - Syracuse, NY. July, 2004. Vampires (I recommend downloading this one from TIP, along with Gerard doing Jet Black New Year with Thursday and the ridiculous little interview ♥)
  • $2Bill - Philadelphia, PA. MTV. 9/6/06. OLOS
  • Orangevale - California, 10/08/03. Demolition Lovers (This whole set is also amazing, download from TIP. Lots of great Bullets!)
  • House of Blues - LA, 10/31/06. WTTBP and Mama at TIP
  • The List - Myspace's The List, 10/05/06. FLW

Phew, that was more work than I expected! I hope someone enjoys listening to this as much as I enjoyed making it :) And maybe I've pointed you in the direction of some live stuff you weren't aware of! MCR is an absolutely phenomenal live band, and they've given us a lot of brilliant material to revel in :) If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Oooh, okay, I have a question that I'm thinking you can answer because you know a lot about MCR. I saw them at the Starland Ballroom on 12/30/04, and the whole thing was taped for MTV, who aired a half hour special a few weeks later, and I know it was the show I was at because I recognized it. And I really thought that was the stuff that was on the MCR DVD. I mean, I haven't watched it carefully, but now I'm just so confused wondering how MCR played near me on 11/11/04 and I didn't know about it. Was that show, like, private or something? You probably don't even understand my question, but omg I'm so confused, hahaha.

I do understand your question, and what I'm thinking is that The Immortality Project got the date wrong, because that's where I got the 11/11 date from. I have seen videos on Youtube that have MTV's logo on them that match the videos that are on the DVD (which I have watched obsessively, um *is totally not watching it RIGHT THIS SECOND, of course not*) so they must be the same set. I think the only logical explanation is that TIP fucked up on the date, if you're sure that the show you saw was on MTV.

.......

It only just hit me that YOU WERE AT THE FUCKING STARLAND BALLROOM SHOW OH MY GOD I'M TRYING REALLY REALLY REALLY HARD NOT TO HATE YOU RIGHT NOW. *flailyhands* Pretty much ALL my favorite live performances are from that show! Glorious, all out performances of Honey, Vampires, Sorrows, sdlkfjlsdkjfd! Nghhhh I haaate that I didn't know them earlier D: D: D:

Yeah, I checked my lj archives, it was definitely 12/30/04. They also played there on either 12/31/04 or 1/1/05, but I wasn't at that show, and I'm not sure if that show was also taped. I do know that I definitely recognized most of the MTV footage I saw on TV, but I haven't watched the DVD stuff all that carefully, mainly because it looked like it was the same stuff as was on MTV. But yes, I was at the show! I actually really didn't like it at all but only because the fans sucked, it was not a band issue. That was also the last time I saw them that they played anything off of Bullets, though. If only I had known, I would have cherished it more! I saw that at the Starland earlier that year, too, and that was an awesome show. The best was the very first time I saw them in '03, though, opening for TBS. Gerard had his little leather jacket! I fell in love immediately.
