I finally got my information packet from my college! I found out my room, roommate, and classes. My roommate's name is casey Meisenbacher, and I haven't talked to her yet. I like the name casey though, lol ^_^ I got a nice room, all things considered. In the biggest dorm building. It's the only building with carpeted floors, yay. All in all I'm pleased.

Now about the courses... I already knew I had chemistry and calc 3. I just found out that my other two courses are Mathematics and Art, and Genetic Testing. Wow. That's a pretty scientific and mathematic courseload, eh? I'm glad I'm getting some bio in there, I miss bio. The only bad thing is that I have classes either at 8:45 or 9 AM every morning, Monday-Friday. Monday I have three classes (GT is at 7:30-10:30 PM! Isn't that weird? It's only once a week too) but Tuesday I only have one. So I guess that balances out. Thursdays I have a chem lab for four hours in the afternoon, wow. I'm actually really excited about that, I like labs! *geektastic* Also, Genetic Testing just sounds so awesome. DNA fingerprinting! It's just about as close to forensics as I could get. Dude, I could be a csi, hehe.

Soooo. That's that.

Also, it looks like I'm going to be keeping my laptop after all. That's kind of a yay. It would have been nice to have a shiny new iBook, with twice the hard drive space, but it alleviates a LOT of problems. I get to keep Photoshop - YAY! So... that's that, I suppose. We're gonna buy my brother a much cheaper one.

A lab based curriculum isn't only labs, it's just not lecture separate from labs. Can't be more specific because there are a couple of different ways to teach lab based.
Another thought, maybe the instructor isn't a full professor, but a specialist PhD that works a daytime job in forensics? UTexas has been known to do this for some specialized classes.
And a final thought, my second semester at UT, everything I took was before noon, except for an evening physics lab. Since I too am a night person, by the third week of classes I shifted my sleeping pattern so the classes were in my 'late afternoon/evening' time and didn't try to get up in time to make the shuttle bus every morning. I still feel it saved my grades that semester. Keep it mind if you find yourself sleeping in instead of going to class. ;)

Ahhh, that's very interesting, and is a possibility. And that would be sweet if it was taught by a forensic specialist... though I don't think it's very likely, my school is just a little private school in the middle of Pennsylvania, not a big University :)

Hmm, do you mean that you shifted your sleep time to... what normally would be the afternoon? That's interesting! How did you ever socialize? lol

If I remember correctly, I normally tried to be in bed by 3 or 4pm and slept until about midnight, got up did homework, housework, etc (I lived in an apt off campus) went to classes, and came home to bed. The only night that was bad was the night I had lab from 7-10. Luckily we were usually out of there by 8 (the labs were pretty easy). That day I'd go home about 1pm take a nap, go to lab, go back home and sleep until 3 or 4 am.
As for socializing, 1) I had nearly flunked out the previous semester due to socializing and not realizing how much more work was required than I was used to; 2) most of my friends were in the same classes with me, so I saw them during class, could eat lunch with them, and we did study groups right after lunch. I'm not sure if anyone else shifted their sleep schedule, but there were lots of naps taken. ;)
