I CAN HAS HEWLETTS?

So, in David Hewlett's latest blog post (which includes a photo of David with his wee baby boy, OMG MY OVARIES) he mentioned that he and his sister Kate are booked for a con in July. I clicked to the con website, assuming it would be in California or something, BUT NO. IT IS IN BALTIMORE. BALTIMORE! Which is RIGHT THERE. Riiiiight there, omg. And I WANT TO GO! And the prices are very reasonable, something like 55 bucks for the weekend! And only 35 for a photo with DHew or 55 for a photo with both! OMG, RIGHT? I want to goooooo! Does anybody know anything about this con? It's called Shore Leave and it's fan run and I'm just wary about it being kinda dodgy, BUT OMG HEWLETTS. PLUS Adam Baldwin!! And probably more guests!

I've never been to Shore Leave, but by reputation, it's one of the best conventions in the area. Lots to do, lots to see, and awesome guests.

Jess and I are totally going-mind you, we live like 20 minutes from the hotel. We're also trying to convince Mona to come up!

This might be a little bit presumptuous, but the hotels are really expensive... if it comes down to that, would you maybe have space for a couple fangirls to crash? I totally get if you don't, but I'm just trying to figure out our options!

Heh. Sadly, with six people already in a three bedroom, plus assorted animals, there's not anywhere to put people.

However, I will be more than happy to help you to find a hotel. *grin*

There's plenty of less expensive options nearby.

Umm we were looking at the Red Roof Inn, it's about $92 a night and pretty close to the con, does that sound like a good option?

That's definitely a possibility. There's also an extended Stay, for 109, around the same area--actually a little closer, I think. With a grocery across the street, it definitely cuts down on food expense.

Ah, that's handy. I do have a car though so we could make a little trip to stock up food supplies, or even bring it from home. That's a good thing to consider though, I've never been to a con so I don't really know what I need to worry about! Thanks for the heads up :)
