Obama was AWESOME! \o/ I mean, hearing him speak was great but not that different from watching the DNC speech. However, being a part of that massive crowd that was so in tune with what he was saying? That was really something special. SO MANY PEOPLE SHOWED UP! The line started very early and grew to what I have to guess was between a mile and two long. Thousands of people, curving around and through the park and along our campus, waiting to see this man speak. Probably half of them actually got in, but the speakers were loud enough that I think everyone heard. I did get in because I had friends who had arrived pretty early (I had to do work in the lab, blah etc) so we stood on a hill and watching him speak and gesture and smile. He's such a passionate man! I NEED him to be our president. I definitely had tears in my eyes, because this is a PERSON. A person who loves and feels and cares and dreams. Not a politician in it for himself. Obama is going to help US. And every time I type that sentiment, I think how appropriate it is that US is also the initials of our country. Now if only we could live up to our name. I think he can help us do it.

OBAMA BIDEN 08!!!!

(In much less awesome news, this semester is going to kill me. SEND HALP.)
(Oh and PS. PANIC BABIES ARE ADORABLE the end.)
(PPS. GEEWAY IS A STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE. I KNEW ONE DAY HE WOULD SHOW HIS TRUE COLORS. THE BLACK IS JUST A FACADE. ILHIMMMM.)
(PPPS. Where was Jon?)
(PPPPS. HALP.)

You are really lucky to have attended. In all my voting years, I have only ever voted in two presidential elections where my candidate won. (Well, three actually since Gore really did win Florida but that is another story.) I truly hope I'm due because this country needs Barack Obama's intelligence & vision.

I'm hoping to hear him speak in person some day - CA isn't a battleground state so unlikely he will make an appearance here during the campaign.

(Advanced biochemistry! Good lord. PLUS analytical chemistry, PLUS PLUS my independent research project, which is mainly organic synthesis for now but will become a lot of spectral analysis.

I repeat: OH GOD.)

(... holy fucking shit, you are so incredibly insane. I kind of have to bow down to you now. [I am also dying, but it's my own fault for not studying at all over the summer.]

*hugs really tightly*)

*CLIIIINGS* It is not ME who is insane, but rather 1) the vagaries of scheduling which mean that the ONLY TWO chemistry classes I have left to complete my major are BOTH FALL CLASSES, and 2) the chemistry department for requiring TWELVE TO FIFTEEN HOURS IN THE LAB PER WEEK for my independent project. Also required for my major.

I WANT TO DIE. It doesn't help that I am in the process of falling very much out of love with chemistry and the practice thereof. Biochem and I are still good friends, but my independent just might kill me. I already hate it.

:(

*pats* *a lot*

1) Wow, that's insane, and also really really lame. Who put that schedule together?

2) ... gahhhhhhhhh. Oh my god -- actually I was about to say "I can't imagine that" but then I realized that's my MQP next year! So, uh. :| I feel your pain?

PLEASE DON'T DIE. *clingsto* (Also if it helps I am slowly realizing, myself, that I really don't think being a chemist will work out for me in the long run either, uh. :D?) What are you doing your independent on?

1) It's mostly a result of what credits I happened to get in Ireland, leaving me with a 200 level and a 400 level course to complete. They just both happen to be in the fall.

Really? Is no one going to actually stick with science? It's important you know! Hee.

My independent is just an extension of my work for the last two summers, the probing DNA with nitriles and IR/NMR studies.

IF ONLY I WERE AMERICAN. Except, well, I kind of like being Canadian. But that is beside the point.

Jon was probably in Chicago being adorable with his girl and his cats, idk.

I'm glad Obama was amazing for you. I saw him at my school a while ago, and to say that his speech was inspirational is kind of an understatement.

(Please not to be dying of schoolwork D: Just stare at adorable band boys some more.)

I would KILL to see that man speak! Sigh. Somehow though, I don't think South Africa is on his list of places to go. Just a hunch.

I find that when I feel the way you do about school/lack of time, (which is basically all the time lol), I repeat the following mantra:

SLEEP IS FOR THE WEEK SO BRING IT BITCHES.

I then take a nap. Works like a charm.

\o/ I would definitely vote for Obama if I could. I'm happy you got to see him speak, it must be amazing to feel that energy!

HALP IN THE FORM OF CUDDLES? I'm afraid I can't help with science! *cuddles*
