I emailed the professor that I REALLY REALLY want to work with at UM asking whether I could do a rotation in his lab, and this is his reply:

Hi Anne,Gleeeee!! I'm SO happy and relieved and excited. I REALLY want to work in his lab, he's so brilliant and the lab itself is gorgeous and the work is so cutting edge. It even sounds like he was hoping I would ask him! Yaaaaay.
I was thrilled to see your name appear on the "Accepted" list! I will absolutely hold a rotation slot for you - either for the summer or fall.
