Does anyone have any advice for flight searching? This is frustrating me beyond BELIEF. We had an awesome, low fare chosen, and then as soon as I selected the flight, it said, "We're sorry, the price of this flight has changed" to 200 more dollars!!!!

This is my rage face.

(ETA: Now I tried a AirFrance trip for 322 and when I clicked on it it increased to 2500. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I have NEVER had this happen to me before.)

So, uh, any advice/tips would be very very much appreciated. I hate the world right now.

I've heard a weird thing that searching for the same flight a lot (by multiple people) makes the price increase. Maybe that's what happened? It happened to me when I was studying abroad for a class trip and we were all booking around the same time. Annoying!

I used kayak.com recently and got an AMAZING fare to Europe. But i didn't have specific dates in mind.

Is this something you need to book as soon as possible, like tonight? If not, I've heard that booking flights late at night on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday is good. Less people are buying at those times, so they lower the prices, I guess? Maybe that's just AirCanada though, which is the only company we fly with, but it could be worth a try if you can wait for a few nights.

in Australia we have a site called webjet which, if you find and book the flight through it they guarantee your seat price. So I think it would stop that kind of thing happening? Perhaps there is an American version? (I tried without the .au on te end of the url and it just bumped me back ot the aussie site.)

They post (and email) daily fares to/from your local airport(s), and have been running some big!deal deals to Dublin lately (if that's what you're looking for), and to europe in general. good luck!

I've had the seat become unavailable because I was at the page for over 30 minutes, but never had the fare just jump like that.

I don't know personally, but I know my mom generally looks on Expedia (http://www.expedia.com/Default.asp).
